The Galactic HoloNet news will provide updates about In-Character events or set the scene for plot updates, advances, etc. The Galactic HoloNet is largely dominated by the Galactic Republic and thus most news provide coverage of the happenings in the Galactic Republic, Jedi Order and other related factions. Despite this, the Confederacy maintains a version of the HoloNet known as the Shadowfeed and is used to spread Confederate information to the Galactic Republic but also served as the separatist "HoloNet" equivalent.

Clone Freedom Act provides controversy in the Senate

The Clone Freedom Act, a piece of legislation introduced into the early Senatorial drafting process by Senator Apoali Leskirist of Corellia and supported by members of the original Petition of 2000 has become a controversial piece of legislation in the Senate. The legislation would introduce a number of reforms to the Clone soldiers currently serving in the Grand Army of the Republic at the forefront of the so-called "Clone Wars" against the Confederacy. It would introduce a potential new droid army as replacements for the Clone troopers, it would further prohibit cloning of new soldiers, which the bill refers to as "slaves", and provide for citizenship for the Clones and offer them options in regards to military service. Supporters of the Senator include Senator Mon Mothma, the Senator of Chandrilla and others who were original members of the Petition of 2000. Senator Leskirist was reached for comment regarding the CFA and noted the following: " "You've all seen my voting record, and you all know there were few more devout in their support for Chancellor Palpatine, and this mockery of human life we've perpetuated in the Clone Wars. But we were tricked into birthing - yes, birthing - an army - whose origins we are still unclear on - an army whose purpose was solely to bring Palpatine more and more power. This bill is not unreasonable. In fact, what's unreasonable is the bill in draft form being leaked to the press and slandered, instead of considered and debated upon its ideological foundation."

Members of the Commission for the Protection of the Republic (COMPOR) have rallied against the bill, calling it "...unnecessary and dangerous to democracy." COMPOR rallies have been held across the Galactic Republic in opposition of the bill. Senator Redar Brenau of Kuat was interviewed and stated "The Clones were bred for war and very clearly have a set of pre-programed orders that could easily be used against the Republic. Do we not remember that Order 66 was programed into the heads of the Clones and could have shattered the Galactic Republic as we know it? I respect Senator Leskirist and Senator Mothma but this is not the hill they want to die on. The Senate will absolutely reject this and we will be done with this insane concept."

Varlo Auteds, a political commentator from Anaxes, an ardent COMPOR member and former Senator from Anaxes rallied against the bill while debating fellow political commentator Cadan Tacem, a former Senatorial Representative from Duros. "I'm not sure in what world we consider these clones to not be a threat to democracy." Auteds stated. Tacem was none to pleased with his words and called Auteds a veiled xenophobe and an oppressive as the Trandoshan slavers. Tacem is a well known anti-war and anti-slavery activist and has been one of the biggest supporters of Senator Leskirist's legislation.

GHN resident Senatorial correspondent suspects that the bill will fail when it goes to vote in the Senate but has heard a lot of back and forth that she has no idea what will happen in reality.

Reformist push for overhaul of the Republic
Yelona, 19 BBY

Other Galactic HoloNet stories: Incom announces contract with the Ministry of Defense on new starfighter concepts. Tensions rise on Bakura as rumors of Skirmish between Confederate, Republic and local forces stir.

Senators from the new "Reformist" faction within the Galactic Senate have called for radical overhauls in the Galactic Republic over the past month. Lorn Inel, Senator from Esseles has become the head of the Reformist movement and alongside his fellow Senators have called for Supreme Chancellor Tam Cinadra to resign. The Reformist have not gone as far as to call for a formal Vote of No Confidence but they have made it clear that their movement is growing and has several ideals which have become popular in the course of the Clone Wars. Hela Braven, a Representative from Alsakan has called on the outlaw of cloning and the use of Clone forces within the Galactic Republic as a whole. Braven is a signer of the so-called "Declaration of a New Republic" in which Inel, Braven and several dozen other Senators have laid out the foundation for a "New Republic" to better serve the Galactic community.

Some of the more "hardline" Reformist have called on the Galactic Republic to confront the recent tense relations with the Jedi Order and smooth them out. Others have called for the Galactic Republic to take a more hardline stance on the Galactic Empire which has grown in strength and economic power over the past several months since it was declared and broke from the Galactic Republic. Political commentators and political experts have cited this growing movement within the Galactic Senate to play an important role in shaping policy and programs over the next several years. Some more ambitious political commentators have noted that the Reformist, should they continue to grow in popularity, will likely push for a Vote of No Confidence and could potentially install a Reformist Supreme Chancellor within the coming months.

Reformist push for defense reform
Yelona, 19 BBY

Senator Lorn Inel from Esseles has introduced the "Defense Reformation Act" into the Galactic Senate, it is now in the Military Oversight Committee, a committee that Senator Lorn Inel is on. The DRA would reform the Grand Army of the Republic into the Galactic Republic Defense Forces and would radically restructure the GAR and the Republic Navy. It would create a new position independent of the Supreme Chancellor as the "Supreme Commander" who would sit at the top of the Galactic Republic High Command; a new body replacing the Ministry of Defense and the Security Council. The move also would introduce organic, non-clones into the Galactic Republic Army and is part of a wider effort of the growing Reformist faction in the Galactic Senate, the DRA has become a component of the "Declaration of a New Republic". It will likely be discussed and debated in the Military Oversight Committee for sometime before heading to the Senate floor for debate.

Trial set for Jedi Knight in Bakura incident
Welona, 19 BBY

Representatives from the Galactic Senate have confirmed that the trial for the Jedi Knight, Cassus Valorous, has been set and appears on the Galactic Senate's docket. The trial has many concerned within the Republic and political experts have stated that the Jedi might not be the one really on trial, but the Supreme Chancellor. Press Secretary for Esseless Senator Lorn Inel has stated that the Senator has been incredibly busy with meetings from across the political spectrum, his second in command, Representative Hela Braven from Alaskan has likewise been busy. Perhaps the most notable meetings occurred with Core Faction leader Carmiya Karaay (Female, Human, Senator from Brentaal) and Rim Faction leader Eslor Stacem (Male, Duros, Senator from Duro); both of whom stated that the discussions with the leader of the Reformist was "...promising and shed light on several issues that we had neglected before." Inel has been hyper-critical of the Supreme Chancellor who he states has continually failed to live up to promises of reform, anti-corruption and more importantly tackling galactic issues.

The trial has been set for mid Welona of this year and many are expected to take part in this so-called "trial".

Senate tosses Supreme Chancellor, declares New Republic
Welona, 19 BBY

In a shocking turn at the Senate trial of Jedi Knight Cassus Valorous, the Senate successfully passed a Vote of No Confidence in Supreme Chancellor Tam Cinadra while voting simultaneously on the Charter of the New Republic and formally passing the Declaration of the New Republic. The vote lead by Senator Lorn Inel from Esseless was supported by hundreds of Senators and those close allies of the Jedi Order. The showdown in the Senate was tense as supporters of the Confederacy and the "Loyalist" who supported the former Supreme Chancellor and titular Galactic Emperor Palpatine, were removed from the Senate by order of Senator Mon Mothma of Chandrila. The passing of the Charter of the New Republic ushered in a new era of democracy in the Galaxy and HoloNet bureaus around the Galaxy reported massive protests and rallies from across the Galaxy.

In a somewhat stunning move the now New Republic Senate voted to elect the Senator from Esseless, Lorn Inel as the first Chief of State of the New Republic. Inel, the leader of the Reformist in the Galactic Senate will now take over for the now former Supreme Chancellor and will have the massive undertaking of re-organizing the New Republic and seeking to undo years of corruption, abuse and neglect. The Chief of State will undergo several tests in the coming months as he seeks to lead the Galaxy into a new era.

Political experts are interested in seeing how the New Republic Senate will adopt to the new situations in the Galaxy.

Senate passes Clone Freedom Act and NR Defense Forces Act
Welona, 19 BBY

In a late night session of the New Republic Senate the Senate voted to approve the new Clone Freedom Act (CFA) and the New Republic Defense Forces Act (NRDFA) with near unanimous consent of the Senate. Chief of State Lorn Inel was on-hand for the votes, whipping votes himself. The Clone Freedom Act, the centerpiece of legislation, offers those Clone soldiers employed by the New Republic's transitional Grand Army of the Republic to either continue their service, enter into a non-combatant role within the military, security or intelligence apparatus or retire with a pension, choice of planet and land grants. The Ministry of Defense had previously started collecting data and decisions when the Clone Freedom Act was previously considered. Nearly 75% of the Clone Troopers decided to remain in active service, another 20% decided to move in military, security and intelligence roles that were non-combat or training related. 5% decided to retire and had their selection of planets, many of them deciding to return to planets that they fought on if they were in New Republic space or forming colonies of former Clone Troopers.

The New Republic Clone Force (NRCF) will continue to fight on the front lines of the New Republic until the New Republic Army and the New Republic Navy can assume their roles. The Clone Freedom Act also provides for the Jedi Order to continue serving as Generals and leaders within the New Republic Clone Force, notably due to the bond formed between the Jedi and the Clone Troopers.

The New Republic Defense Forces Act formally re-organizes the Grand Army of the Republic and the Republic Navy. The New Republic Defense Forces (NRDF) will be lead by the Chief of State as the Commander-in-Chief while the Supreme Commander of the New Republic Defense Forces, the operational head of the NRDF, will have most ultimate say over military matters. The Ministry of Defense will administer civilian matters of the New Republic Defense Forces. The first Supreme Commander of the New Republic Defense Forces is Republic Navy Admiral Barton Coburn; Admiral Coburn was promoted to the rank of Fleet Admiral and now serves as the Supreme Commander.

The NRDF also formally creates the New Republic High Command which supports the mission of the New Republic Defense Force and forms a general staff around the new Supreme Commander.

Ministry of Justice announces arrests of pro-Imperials
Welona, 19 BBY

Spokesperson for the New Republic Ministry of Justice Horss Muhriln (Male, Kel Dor) announced that officers from the New Republic Security Forces (NRSF), the New Republic Intelligence Service (NRIS) and Ministry of Justice completed their investigation into the Commission for the Preservation of the Republic (COMPOR). The investigation began after the Loyalist faction of the Galactic Senate was expelled from the New Republic Senate and several were revealed to be members of COMPOR's Select Committee; the investigation lead by Deputy Inspector Arshumosh Ilbern (Female, Corellian) of the Counter-Intelligence Bureau revealed nearly 1,137 members of COMPOR had connections to the Galactic Empire. Inspector Ilbern noted that of the 1,137 revealed to have connections to the Galactic Empire about 200 had been arrested, the others had fled from New Republic space.

The most prominent of them is former Senator from Fresia, Krana Lenda, who is accused of supporting pro-Imperial elements within the Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire. Lenda is accused of several crimes, notably industrial espionage against the Incom Corporation.

InterGalactic Banking Clan breaks with Confederacy; vows neutrality
Elona, 18 BBY

San Hill, the Chairman of the InterGalactic Banking Clan (IGBC) announced today at Muunilist that as of end of business; the IGBC would formally no longer be members of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and instead declare total neutrality in matters of Galactic politics. The decision comes as the former Galactic Republic's Emergency Powers Act was formally suspended and the new, upstart Galactic Empire has entered into agreements with the IGBC regarding the issuance of currency within Imperial controlled space. According to Hill, whatever forces from the Collections and Security Division were assigned to the Confederacy will be totally transferred and the IGBC will rebuild the CSD from the ground up. The decision will permit the IGBC to interact with the three major galactic powers: the New Republic, the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Empire in addition to smaller galactic contenders like the Hutts, the Corporate Sector Authority, the Hapes Consortium and others.

In a statement of support, the Ministry of Commerce and Finance of the New Republic welcomed the move and stated that the IGBC was welcome to conduct business within the New Republic as it saw fit. The IGBC will retain significant control over planets such as Argau, Scipio and others. In the Confederacy, Chairman Hill noted that the IGBC would remain neutral but would engaged with the Confederacy due to their main planetary headquarters (Mygeeto and Muunilist) being within Confederacy space. Chairman Hill also noted that Gwori Revolutionary Industries, which controlled Gwori and the Gwori shipyards would remain committed to "...pre-existing contracts with the Confederacy of Independent Systems and its stakeholders."

Financial experts welcomed the announcement and believes that the move has staved off financial disaster in the wake of the Clone Wars. The so-called "Treaty of Muunilist" provides that the IGBC remain neutral in galactic affairs and was signed by the leaders of the IGBC, and representatives from the New Republic, the Galactic Empire and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Regent Tarkin greets Moffs and Governors at respective meetings; address the Empire
Elona, 18 BBY

Regent Wilhulf Tarkin spoke today at a joint session of the Council of Moffs and the Diet of Imperial Planetary Governors, the first meetings of its kind on Eriadu. The Council of Moffs and Diet of Imperial Planetary Governors brings together the Moffs and Imperial Governors from across the Empire to discuss a variety of issues facing their respective areas of governance. Regent Tarkin welcomed the Moffs and Governors to the Imperial Palace on Eriadu where he met with a number of them to discuss the situation within the Empire. As the Empire has further distanced itself from the former Galactic Republic and its successor, the New Republic, it has not only broken away from the ineffective and corrupt means of the former galactic governments but has turned a new, open hand to the Outer Rim.

The Outer Rim, often neglected by the the former Galactic Republic and continually neglected by the "New" Republic, has been the focal point of Imperial efforts since the establishment of the New Order by Regent Tarkin sometime ago. Regent Tarkin cited the "billions" put to work for the greater good of the Empire and how the Empire had invested billions of credits into the development of numerous planets and systems across the Outer Rim as a whole. The address to the joint session reflected the cautious tone of the Empire and how the Regent still felt that the titular Galactic Emperor, Palpatine, was a criminal being manipulated by the Jedi Order and how under his leadership he would do whatever was necessary to return the Emperor and continue his work.

The Commission for the Preservation of the New Order gave several workshops and trainings to Moffs and Governors regarding situations and how to deal with them, notably crisis management and terrorist and criminal groups known to the Empire and functioning in the Outer Rim. Regent Tarkin also launched a brand new COMPNOR recruitment effort aimed at expanding COMPNOR and reinforcing CompForce, the armed paramilitary wing of COMPNOR which will provide additional security and safety to Imperial worlds around the Empire.

Separatist Alliance declared!

The HoloNet, the Sith Confederacy's Shadowfeed and the Empire's Imperial HoloNet feeds shutter as the image of a Neimoidian begins to take over the screen. There is some static and some interference but the image becomes clear after a few moments.

I am Jaurs Sifdiy, the Viceroy of the New Trade Federation and the Chairman of the Separatist Alliance. I have come to you today to bring you tidings of the newly declared Separatist Alliance. We are the true heirs to the legacy of freedom and democracy across the Galaxy! The Confederacy of Independent Systems was usurped by the followers of the Force and subjugated into even more oppressive means than before. We will not tolerate such activities! We will fight the New Republic. We will fight the Galactic Empire. We will fight the Sith Confederacy! The Separatist Alliance stands for freedom, democracy and the right of all who join its ranks.

The image begins to fade as those watching the respective feeds raise eyebrows and begin to talk and chatter about what they just saw. Censors, officials and the like from galactic governments around the Galaxy begin to check their systems, review procedures and come to understand why this happened.

OOC Note: The Separatist Alliance is simply the name of the various Separatist/CIS holdouts throughout the Galaxy and this is provided to make sense about a loose coalition of pro-Separatist, anti-Sith/Jedi/Republic/Imperial forces.

Regent Tarkin announces increased patrols across the Empire
Elona, 18 BBY

Regent Tarkin announced that due to the outbreak of hostilities with the New Republic and issues related to the announcement of the new "Separatist Alliance", the Empire will increase patrols across the Empire. Grand Vizier Sate Pestage, the Regent's right-hand man and capable bureaucratic overseer, made the announcement on the Imperial HoloNet at the Imperial Palace of Eriadu. The increased patrols will come in the form of increased Imperial Navy patrols on known hyperlanes, including major ones; increased patrols of the Imperial Army, COMPNOR officials as well as enhanced activity from the Imperial Security Bureau.

The Grand Vizier also noted that the Regent had meetings with the Procurator of Justice and they had agreed to increased deployment of Imperial Sector Rangers and other offices underneath the Imperial Department of Justice. This comes at a time when the Imperial Department of Taxation and Finance has increased the overall number and enforcement types from the Imperial Customs Bureau as well as the Imperial Trade and Commerce Authority. "We have all engines of the Galactic Empire running towards the safety and security of the Galaxy. Pirates, criminals and the like will not be welcomed within the areas controlled by the Galactic Empire. They will have to go a little further north where that is tolerated in the Galaxy."

As the conflict in Thyferra rages the Grand Vizier gave a glowing assessment as to the new reinforcements for both the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy citing increased recruitment and deployments for both.

BREAKING: Regent Tarkin and Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Validus agree to Sith-Imperial Concordant
Elona, 18 BBY

Regent Tarkin in addition to Grand Vizier Pestage and a number of other Imperial officials concluded a 3 day diplomatic meeting with representatives of the Dark Lord of the Sith and Dark Lord of the Sith himself. On the steps of the Imperial Palace on Eriadu Regent Tarkin announced that the Galactic Empire and Sith Confederacy had formally signed a concordant between the two galactic powers. The Regent shared that the the Sith Confederacy and the Galactic Empire had formally entered into a non-aggression pact between the two galactic powers and would formalize relations between the two. "This is an important step for the future of order and stability in the Galaxy. The New Republic has just conclude a very aggressive military action against the people of Thyferra and we cannot allow as such to stand." The formal terms of the agreement were published on both the Imperial HoloVision and the Confederacy's Shadowfeed.

As a part of the agreement the Sith Confederacy will assist in the turning over of Confederacy worlds to the Galactic Empire in the Empire's sphere of influence, in exchange, the Galactic Empire has promised to provide support and assistance to the Confederacy where agreed upon. A notable component of the agreement provides for "...assistance..." in dispatching and handling the recent "Separatist Alliance" that has arisen in holdout areas of both the Confederacy and the Galactic Empire, a unique component that shows that the treaty that was signed will deepen cooperation between the Empire and the Confederacy as a whole. Representatives from the Imperial Department of State, the department that the Grand Vizier oversees, will formally dispatch representatives from the Imperial Diplomatic Corps to Sith worlds close to the Galactic Empire and the Confederacy's capital world. Pelion Flaventanus, the new Consul to the Sith Confederacy, was "eager" to handle important matters of state between the two powers.

Pacifist Council attempts to "defund" Phoenix Legion
Kelona, 18 BBY

Senators from the Pacifist Council, including Rim Faction leader Senator Eslor Stacem (Duros, Male), failed today in an attempt to defund the New Republic from supporting the Phoenix Legion. The Phoenix Legion is an informal grouping, according to the Senators and Representatives who introduced legislation unsuccessfully, that "...operates outside of traditional chains of command within the New Republic..." A notable voice of opposition alongside the Rim Faction leader is former Trade Representative of the Trade Federation and Senatorial Representative from Cato Neimodia, Blibman Chunkim, who decried the actions of the Jedi and the New Republic in waging an "...aggressive action..." against the neutral world of Thyferra and stated that the Phoenix Legion will attempt to "...subvert the New Republic." and "...attempt to foster and create either an independent polity or create a "Jedi Republic"."

Several hearings have taken place within the Military Oversight Committee regarding the Phoenix Legion and Lorn Inel, the Chief of State has voiced his support for the Phoenix Legion personally. "The Jedi Order and the New Republic are cooperating together within the Phoenix Legion and despite the best attempts of Representative Chunkim, the Phoenix Legion is well within the chain of command of the New Republic, the New Republic Defense Forces and the New Republic Ministry of Defense. I have had several conversations with the Jedi Grand Master and I can assure you, she and I see eye to eye on matters of defense of the New Republic. This act today was disingenuous to the men and women fighting for the New Republic and for the Jedi who have taken oaths to protect the New Republic. I will not and cannot tolerate that." While the public show of support from the Chief of State and several Core and Militarist Faction Senators is good, some political commentators doubted the legitimacy of the comments made by both the Chief of State and various Senators.
