Location - Ossus
Mission - Establish a Secret Base for Jedi Strike Teams

As his ship excited hyperspace, a brown-orange planet swirled with clouds came sharply into view. Mountain ranges and cold deserts dominated this once lush planet of life while sparse lightning storms unnaturally lit sections of its atmosphere. This would become the new base of operations for the Jedi's covert strike teams.......

.......this was Ossus.......

A once great and powerful Jedi world in ages past, home to bustling cities, grand training halls for the Knights, thriving markets, and of course, the prize of the ancient Jedi, the Great Library of Ossus. This was the Order's home and stronghold for thousands of years before the construction of the temple on Coruscant, which now housed the Jedi. It was sad really, to think that once the Jedi Order could barely be kept on an entire planet that they needed outposts off world to grow........and now you could pack all the remaining Jedi in the galaxy into the Temple on Coruscant with plenty of room to spare.

Kylar brushed that sad thought from his mind. "Grandmaster Bela Khess has a renewed vision, a return to how the Jedi Order was always meant to be, and has entrusted me to lay the foundations for this work. We shall begin here. First in secret.......to thwart our enemies. Then, in strength. We shall return this world to a proper place of honor, to the Jedi", he thought to himself. Guiding his ship down thru the upper atmosphere, the young knight flew over bleak desert landscapes and snow-dotted mountain sides which still held the ruined spires and buildings of the past. Everywhere, the Force surged.......the Living Force......the Light-side.......so alive and vibrant in contrast to the ruin and abandonment of this world. Yet is was always present......an uplifting morale, a serenity feeling, a calming guide. It guided Kylar Thrane at this moment, as he had no map.....no direction....no real knowledge to go on, besides the history of the world. Ironically, in an historic world of such great importance, the Jedi Masters over the centuries seemed to document and record only sparse details of Ossus, since their forced flight. Kylar knew of the Great Library and its importance, if any of it still stood. He knew of the Hall of Knights, with its famous statues. And he knew a cataclysm gripped this world when the ancient Sith Lord Exar Kun had set forth a super-nova from a nearby star cluster which had swept away all life on worlds caught in its blast.

The calling in his soul drew him ever onward, until at last in a valley ringed with high rock fortifications that a structure caught his eye......as did the stone statues wielding sabers. He angled the Ancestral Blade lower, and retracted its strike foils to land a few dozen yards in the clearing before the great steps, which were guarded by three (3) massive stone figures. As he descended the ramp, Kylar felt the cold air of this world whip against him. He was the first Jedi to set foot on his world in centuries. "Why had we not returned sooner?", he thought as he pulled his cloak tighter around him as he walked clear of the ship to gaze in awe of the majesty of the ancient Hall of Knights.

"Because it was not yet time.......", a voice on the wind seemed to answer him. Looking about, Kylar could see no one, as he alone stood in the wide courtyard before the hall.

Though still cold, the air seemed to warm slightly and draw him towards the main archway. The Force was alive with feelings calling him forth.....like the warm air of home, calling you inside from winter's chill. "Welcome Kylar Thrane," the voice continued. "If your heart tells true, you are welcome here. Thus, may this be the hour that honor and purpose was once again bestowed on to our Order. Welcome, Jedi." At that the cold wind shifted, and then fell quiet. In its passing, Kylar could hear the ringing of gentle high notes. Looking up into the outer antechamber, he could see a crystal wind-chime still hanging and crying out soft notes of music. "To think, after all the destruction on this world, and yet that simple beauty survived the ages. Truly, the Force does always have a purpose," he said aloud as he listened to the notes. His heart seemed lighter then, the weariness and sadness over the bleakness of Ossus faded, until all he felt was his own resolve. Yes, the Jedi could rebuild here......we must.

He entered into the first great hall, which was dark and cool as it was carved into the mountain side. There was a great stillness in the air, as even dirt and dust fell silently. The only sound was his own muffled footsteps on the dirt covered stone floor. Then he noticed a few feet in front of him, stood a narrow pedestal, which he could barely make out in the dark. Such in awe of the serenity of this Hall he had been, that Kylar had not even thought to activate a glowstick or flash light. Yet, he thought he could make out another crystal formation on the pedestal in front of him. He moved up to it and realized it had a large kyber crystal set upon it. Instinctively, he removed his glove and set his and upon its cold surface and closed his eyes. He thought back to the voice he had heard, the warm air, the calling welcome, the restoration of honor..........and suddenly the crystal grew warm to his touch. As he opened his eyes, the could see the kyber crystal began to pulse soft beams of blue and orange light, like an internal fire flashing and dancing in its burning intensity. He breathed deep and concentrated on sending his power through his palm to the crystal, and immediately the light grew until it shown out in a constant burning flame to reveal the area around him. But before he could try to make out the nearest pillars, dozens of other kyber crystals mounted on the walls and ceilings now flickered to life, until the entire great hall was alive with light, revealing carved and painted mosaics of the deeds of the Jedi throughout the ages, near perfectly preserved in this underground sanctuary.

He smiled brightly then, and spoke aloud in marvel of the hall, "Indeed this is a hollowed place of the Knights of old. Honored, I am, to have the privilege of standing here to welcome the Jedi back with such warmth, flame, and beauty." With that Kylar activated this comlink on his wrist and signaled on the encrypted frequency to his Jedi companions, "It is safe, friends. I have landed and discovered the ancient Hall of Knights. Let us gather here, to pay our respects to this hollowed place, and then we may begin our mission in earnest." He then sent word to wave off his attendants and soldiers that were waiting in orbit, to assist with their mission. They would be granted access soon enough, but first his Jedi companions must be allowed to enter this great hall to fully appreciate their ancestry here.

The Jedi Knights have come home.

Ossus

Cassus descended through the atmosphere in his fighter to the surface below, just as Kylar's transmission came through. Centuries of history were buried on this very planet, and it would now once again serve the order. The force was overpowering here, everyone could feel it. They had made it, the knights of old had once dwelt in these very temples laid out below them. It was a shame the Jedi Order had not come here sooner, the Jedi Knights ancestry lie on Ossus, this was a place of life, darkness had no place on Ossus, and the knights of old would be respected as they should have been, not left here to rot without care. There were other reasons he was at Ossus, though those reasons were kept at the back of his mind as he opened transmissions with the commander of the 37th SpecOps Detachment, Cassus's new detachment, and the task force to be used by the Jedi strike team. "Commander Hyro, we'll be down on the surface for a while so try not to bore yourself to death." Hyro chuckled as he replied, "Wont be a problem sir, I'll keep the boys up here fresh on their feet, call us if you need us, and we'll come down to make preparations for the surveillance set up." "Sounds good, Valorous out." Cassus spoke as he ended the transmission.
Cassus set his fighter down by Kylar's, feeling the immense power of the force on the surface, he climbed out of his cockpit as the hatch opened, the fresh air was a nice change from deep space, and the feeling of light without dark was not one commonly felt. He begun his stroll towards Kylar's location. Marvelling at the grand hall that stood around him, and the statues of those who had come before them. He was honoured to be one of the first Knights in centuries to step foot on this planet. Suddenly, thought he did not know it, the force itself spoke. As it had to Knight Thrane, "Welcome, Cassus Valorous, knight of the Jedi Order. Welcome home..." and with that, the voice vanished. The warmth was gone, leaving Cassus in disbelief at the voice in the wind.
While still perplexed, he continued through the first great hall marvelling at the statue, the first thing he saw was light, brilliant glows of kyber crystals mounted the walls, no doubt activated by Knight Thrane, but it was still marvellous. "It's... beautiful." He murmured. A short distance away he could see Kylar, but right before he walked towards him, one of the statues at the entrance caught his eye, there, on base of the statue stood a symbol, the crest, of House Valorous, and on the nameplate showed a name known by all members of the Valorous family, Chrysor Valorous, famed Jedi Grand Master, and legend to House Valorous. Cassus had been curious of his ancestry, and wondered if any signs would be on Ossus, and here he was, on the edge of discovery.

Tycho's Eta-2 Actis-class Interceptor leaped from hyperspace into realspace in orbit over Ossus, it had been a long time since he heard the name of the planet that the Jedi Order held so dear to them. It had been thousands of years since the Jedi had really paid any attention to the planet, at least from what he knew. Tycho tapped the control in the cockpit and placed the vessel on auto-pilot down towards the landing area that had been designated by the Jedi Order. As he reached into the atmosphere of the planet, it was signaled that Jedi Knight Kylar Thrane had given the signal, he had reached the grounds on Ossus and the reclamation effort had begun.

Tycho knew that the process would take months to make the Jedi Temple operational, it would take several more months to ensure that the data contained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was transferred here. It would take years for this place to reach the operational status of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant but it would have to do. The Jedi Order had been tamed by the Galactic Republic in recent centuries and the Jedi had become something less of a "police force" and something more of a reclusive force sensitive order that had trouble deciding its role in Galactic affairs.

Tycho had always argued with other Jedi that the Jedi Order should be more active, more proactive in peacekeeping around the galaxy. They were the greatest warriors of the Force, they were the "Bastion of the Living Force" as he called the Jedi Order from time to time, but they had ignored assisting the Galaxy. Tycho had heard the rumors and heard the news that the Galactic Empire had begun to employ fallen Jedi or "Dark Jedi" and that royally angered Tycho, something ignited inside him as he thought about Jedi falling to the Dark Side and opposing the Republic in some twisted mockery of the Jedi Order. He found himself gripping the controls to the starfighter and took a deep breath.

The starfighter set itself down and he took another deep breath. He quickly exited the hatch of the starfighter and made his way into the temple. The Force swirled around him, grasping at him. The planet was alive and Tycho's sense of wonder in the Force was renewed. He felt the surge of something in his nose, it was excitement, it was thrill. He sighed of relief as he felt strangely at home. Tycho made his way towards the meeting center of the Hall of Knights and began to see a convocation of Jedi there.

Neya Senara stood on the bridge of one of the three Arquitens-class Light Cruisers in orbit around the planet, she peered at the planet below, at her side stood Commander Zync. To the Arquitens sides were 6 CR70 Corvettes, they were there as an escort for the Light Cruisers, they were modified to act as listener ships. They were quick and small, and served their purpose. "General Senara, your fighter has been prepped for descent onto the planets surface. We shall wait for your signal then assist the 37th in their preparations." Commander Zync informed Neya. "Very well, Commander. Once I return, we can send the corvettes back to the fleet. Admiral Olari should have use for them." The nautolan Jedi Master referred to the second in command of the 1st Intelligence Fleet, Neya's fleet. She walked through the ship to where her fighter was docked after ensuring the ships would be fine while she was gone.

She walked to where her Eta-2 Actis-class Interceptor was docked, and entered the cockpit. Just as she flew away from the ship to the planets surface, Kylar Thrane's transmission came through. She continued here descent, passing through the various other ships in orbit. She was filled with excitement, Ossus was a mine field of ancient history. The things they could uncover, there were no bounds. Then, just as Neya's fighter broke through the clouds, she was in awe. The temple that lay before them was beautiful. The force surrounded the planet in an aura of life, it was so powerful Neya could feel it from inside her fighter. She quickly flew down and landed at the marked location Kylar had given them, right next to plenty of other ships. She jumped out of the cockpit as the hatch opened, and for the first time in a long while, she felt the power of the force. It was a warm breeze in the air, empowering her. As she closed her eyes and expanded her senses, for miles and miles, only one thing seemed to exist, the living breath of the universe, the one power that remained the same. The force.

It was as if the Jedi had never truly known home, and here it was. In its glory, the home to the Knights of old. She began her walk, to the grand hall of the the temple.

A modified, with the only tell being it's additional Ion weaponry, JumpMaster 5000 would come bursting out of hyperspace as it slowed down instinctively while making said exit. However this momentary slowing in speed would cease almost immediately as it was forced into max forward acceleration as her pilot, Gungnir Sunrider forced his vessel towards the surface of....Ossus. And while the Twi'lek Human hybrid didn't hear a voice upon approach he did obviously feel something unique about the planet.
Gungnir hadn't visited planets like Tython or Ossus, but the legends about these Jedi homeworlds alone were enough to get him salivating. The brash Jedi wasn't very philosophical, political, nor was he exactly deep in The Force as some would say, but the youth did understand the value of history and did realise there very much was a Living Force.
Breaking into the planet's atmosphere Gungnir would still be deaf to any sort of voice the other's might've heard as well as being ignorant to the fact that some of the others had in fact even heard a voice at all. As such his venture wouldn't find a pause or anything out of the ordinary when making his landing procedures before then approaching the others on foot. Coming upon plenty of other Jedi whom were in a trance or outright meditating Gungnir would find himself cracking a light grin and chuckling to himself lightly, almost like a laughing whisper. With so many eyes closed and senses delving deep into The Force the prankster sought to act on his first thought.
Reaching into the confines of his robes he'd pull out a small leather sack tied off with a piece of string, swiftly tossing it out between the gathered group ahead of him. From there he'd begin to concentrate making the bag untie itself while also forcing the bottom of the bag upward, turning it inside out violently before then using The Force to cause the expelled contents to whoosh out swiftly. It was a white powder with a very light blue tinting and had no negative or positive effects other than that if inhaled would make an individual sneeze as well as giggle uncontrollably for a few seconds.
Already snickering even before a single of his peers was dosed Gungnir would even go as far as ignoring anyone who might've been unaffected outright, only waiting for the pay off of his practical joke before worrying about any repercussions. It was safe to say he was dealing with the anxiety of the situation before them all with humor, at the expense of others of course.

The Jedi Order was in the midst of transformation. Recent events had given rise to new leadership and the halls of the Temple on Coruscant no longer filled with talk of war and terror across the galaxy. A new spirit of identity and purpose was permeating Jedi of all ranks. Amara, still under the tutelage of Knight Syala Brastee, was pleased that her mentor appeared to breath a little easier. The war and their role as policing strategists had taken it's toll; the loss of council members and recent defeats certainly left the order defeated and in existential crisis. She, however, was in the privileged position to observe and assess the changes with little responsibility. She was grateful, especially during these times, to still be in mentorship.

Seated in the co-pilot's station on the Consular Class cruiser, she contemplated on all she had been observing. Thankfully the tension of politics on Coruscant did not follow her out into space. The clones, as always, focused on their mission objectives; and today's assignment would take them to Ossus. From what she understood, it was to be one of the first 'outposts,' the cornerstone of the order's new vision and philosophy on restoring peace to the galaxy. She could only wonder how the military viewed their actions...did they even know.

"Commander, we have arrived in sector space," announced the clone pilot in the seat next to her.

Amara nodded in affirmation, "you know what to do. Wait for the all clear and set us down planet side. I'll be with my master".
--------------------------
Consular's Quarters

Amara could feel her master's presence from beyond the doors. There was not question that Syala was in deep meditation...ecstasy with the force. Nearing her quarters, all extrasensory stimuli began to quiet. The vibrations of the engines ceased, vocalized chatter from the Clone troopers faded into faint whispers, and Amara's own breathing slowed as if time would eventually stop. It has been a long time, Amara thought, recognizing her mentor's new hope and optimism with the transforming order. No alert or chime was needed, Syala would already be aware of her presence. With the wave of her hand the door opened, light from the corridor behind her illuminating a darkened room.

"It warms my heart to see you at peace Master," Amara spoke in hushed tone.

"Come Amara, enter into tranquility," Syala replied, with little movement or vocal inflection.

Darkness returned to the room, save for several strategically placed candles around the room. The flickering light bounced upon Syala's golden skin. She appeared illumined, both physically and spiritually. She observed her mentor's hand reaching out with open palms and could feel the invitation to take hold. Amara reciprocated, sitting in meditative pose across from her mentor as she placed her palms in hers. All that was around them vanished. Amara settled into the silence, allowing herself to be embraced by the force. It had been a long time since both were able to to engage in such deep meditation. A taste of new beginnings, at least she hoped it was.

=/\= General Thrane has signaled 'all clear'. All hands prepare for landing. =/\=

The moment was now gone. The vibrations returned, echoing through the bulkheads, her senses now keenly aware of every soul onboard he frigate. Opening her eyes, Amara observed complete darkness, even the candles had been blown out by their reaction to the ship wide intercom system. She could feel Syala's hands pressed against hers, the pressure of longing to remain and recapture the moment of tranquility. However, they both knew the time had passed.

"It was good while it lasted," Amara spoke, "I am sure the temple at Ossus will provide us with another opportunity".

-------------------------
Ossus

The frigate touched down with an abrupt jolt. Syala and Amara exited the vehicle, leaving the clone troopers to attend to their standard procedures. There was no need for commands or instructions, these particular soldiers were familiar with their commander and general's preferences when it came to "their service". They would be called when needed. The two Jedi stepped out onto the sand and stone which scattered the landscape. The wind, the sand, the solid rocks were ethereally grounding, the force was strongly present in this place.

"Young and perceptive," a whisper filled Amara's ear, "seek the wisdom within these halls".

The force had never spoken to Amara before, not with such clarity of voice. She placed her hand on her mentor's shoulder, filled with awesome wonder of the place they were to enter. She wondered if the force had also spoken to her mentor.

The main hall was buzzing with light, tranquility, and activity. Kylar was swept up in the midst of it. One minute he had been examining the brilliance of the kyber crystal fire lamps, the following he had run into Cassus who had made an historical discovery to the Valorous Alderanni family legacy here on Ossus, and the next he was welcoming and embracing his fellow Jedi as they entered the ancient Hall of Knights in wonder and excitement. Looking around at his fellow Jedi, he was elated. There was a presence here on Ossus, a warmth of joy, a renewal of spirit, and a strength of conviction. It was clear that each Jedi and attendant felt it, albeit in their own ways. Back in the Temple on Coruscant, Kylar felt as if he was one of the few who walked around with joy each day of being a member of the Order, or with purpose to prepare for a coming mission.......yet it was near to being an outsider. His brethren had slowly trudged around the Temple, attending lectures, going to training, dreading the need to coordinate a military briefing for a mission, or answer the summons of the Council. It was like all their strength waned in those walls until they were but hollow shells.........shadows of the Jedi they had once been. Most blamed the war, but Kylar knew better. He had grown up in combat, and his family knew war thru and thru, yet they were not eternally depressed. Similarly, the Jedi Order had weathered a thousand conflicts over the generations, and did so with purpose and gusto......not crimpling sadness.

But here on Ossus, all that was different. His brothers and sisters were alive again. Laughing, dueling, running around in awe of their new home.....and yes, it was HOME. The plan for Ossus had began as just a mere necessity for a hidden outpost, but the energy in the air, the living Force, clearly was instructing them otherwise. Ossus was a new beginning to both heal and strengthen the order. And strengthening it was Kylar's chief concern to address their growing enemies in the shadows.

He turned then to address his soldiers that had landed. Some of the Jedi had brought their military assets with them. Kylar aimed for a more subtle approach, utilizing his clandestine Drexel Raiders, his rag-tag group of Republic officers under his command combined with hired privateers utilizing disguised merchant ships to conduct hit-and-run raids behind Separatist lines. One of his officers, the Twi'lek Rook-Ti was among them. "Finish unloading food supplies and back-up generators. I believe the gonk droids were already set-up in the internal barracks, and several of the Jedi have begun to furnish the beds with blankets. Now we'll just need to establish power to the temporary mess hall in the inner chambers until we've had more time to explore. Thanks for hauling all this gear, Rook".

"Its my pleasure, commander. Or is it General now? Or Head Knight? Best Jedi?", she teased him as they stacked supply crates on to a repulsor skiff. "I may not be able to keep up with all the official Jedi jargon, but it seems you've been given plenty of responsibility running this place. And re-discovering a world? Think of all that fame", she faked a swooning motion. "I don't know if I'm good enough to keep serving you, sir." With that she flashed him a wicked smile.......to which Kylar responded with a punch to her shoulder.

"By all that is good, jez Rook, you're a drama queen. Though I have been mandated to lead this mission, all the Jedi work together here. I swear, keep this up and I'll pass you over for promotion again!", he mockingly threatened. "I just need you to help unload and maybe, just maybe be serious for ten (10) seconds." At that Rook feigned mock horror, "Be serious and not get promoted.....but, but sir.....I work so hard for this Republic! You Jedi are too cold hearted....."

"Ah, we can be....but not like your dear Cpt. Jori......", Kylar teased with a smile. Rook returned it and laughed, "Fine you have me there. And I know you haven't promoted me only because you don't want to out rank your dear ARC trooper Captain."

Kylar shook his head jokingly, as he knew where this was going. "If you out-rank him, you'll just abuse your position to order him to come visit you every evening for a debriefing", he quipped at her. Rook's wicked grin returned, "And what makes you think I don't already do that......every evening........when you have us out on deployment, hmm?" Kylar broke into hearty laughter then, and pulled Rook close into a friendly embrace. "This is why I keep you around, Rook-Ti. There is never a dull moment with you." His voice grew softer then, "and on that note, just give me alittle more time to make the arrangements. We'll have more freedom to operate out here away from the politics of Coruscant.......and I'll have more leeway to bring Jori home to you," he finished with a warm smile. Rook hid away a tear and truly hugged him then, and softly said, "Thank you Commander. You're a good man, Kylar. I'm proud to have you as a friend", she paused to look up at him and the ancient structures before them, "and no matter where this new venture of yours leads, I'll have your back. We all will." Kylar hugged her again at that, then gently pulled away. "Thank you Rook. I couldn't do any of this without you and everyone's constant support. Now, lets get the rest of this inside and finishing setting up before it gets dark."

As he entered back into the hall, Kylar noticed a group of young Jedi openly relaxing to have group mediation right in the grand entrance hall. He smiled, it was good to see them opening up again after years of tension. It was.........."wait, what is that blue powder?" he suddenly thought to himself. In the following moments the group of Jedi began sneezing and laughing in awkward spurts. Following the energy of the room......and a random floating bag.......Kylar made his way over to Gungnir Sunrider, only pausing to twice: Once to incinerate the bag with a quick flick of his lightsaber, and once to delivery a quick flick in the Force to knock Gungnir back into a nearby pillar. As the Jedi caught his breath, Kylar addressed, "Damn it Sunrider. Seriously? I lead you to an ancient bastion and training hall of our Order, and instead of helping or just merely exploring the area, you instead are throwing your dumbed down Spice-dust on your brethren whilst they pray?" He rolled his eyes dramatically, and helped his friend to his feet while chuckling, "Lords, you never miss an opportunity. Though I'm glad to see your sense of humor coming back to normal. If you'll assure me they'll be alright in......abit........then go instead and make yourself useful to get the rest of our comms gear in here. After that, I'll be calling a meeting of the Jedi......", he caught Sunriders arm to makesure he didn't stride off to catch his point, "......but I'm not doing that parched of thirst. So go find food crates and grab us a case......or six.....of some cold Alderaani ale, and then we can kick this thing off right, eh?"

Giving Sunrider a nod of thanks and a look of please-don't-throw-that-crap-on-anyone-else, Kylar continued on deeper into their new bastion to help with arrangements and getting all their necessities settled.

Hours passed, and a meager but hot meal was set out for all Jedi, soldiers, and attendants in the inner great hall. Kylar took up a position at the end of a long table, of which there were many. As the Jedi and their allies came striding while chatting into the Hall, Kylar turned to greet them with a chalice raised high, "Welcome friends! This is an historic day, as it the first gathering of Jedi and friends on Ossus in over 2,000 years. Let us mark this occasion with some warm food, cold drinks, and then we will discuss our purpose on this world.......and our new mandate to the galaxy."

Cassus examined a data pad in his hand which contained a script of runes. He had discovered the text on the back of the statue he had found earlier. He was still in awe that he had found the statue of Chrysor Valorous, it was said his power was immeasurable. He could bring down armies with just the sweep of his hand, it was even said he had saved Alderaan from utter loss when they had been invaded. He was a legend, but there was something else, among the generations of House Valorous, the legend of his lightsaber was told. Apparently Chrysor’s tomb was never found, and in a last attempt to defeat an invasion of millions, he sacrificed his life, with just a sliver of conscience he locked himself in a tomb. Who knew if it was on Ossus, but Cassus vowed to find out.

“Hyro, Zync. Nice to see you here, have whoever is manning the stealth corvette land in front of the temple, then start loading all the gear you’ll need and set up surveillance and a HQ. I want you two in charge of everything that goes on here.” He spoke to the two intelligence commanders in front of him as he attached his data pad to his waist. “Yes sir! You’ve known me long enough to know I get the job done, you probably have some stuff to deal with yourself, don’t you?” Hyro spoke as he eyed the data pad. “Oh that? Don’t worry about it, just a bit of research. Now off with you 2 before your men get lost in the equipment.” The 2 commanders walked away as Hyro, no doubt amused behind that helmet of his. Cassus was getting more fond of Hyro, he was a great commander, and at least he had a sense of humour.

His focus went to the chamber around him. He hadn’t even noticed but it was bustling with activity. So many young Jedi and officers alike, praying and exploring. It made him miss his childhood as a youngling. “Alas, here we are.” He quickly found Master Senara, assisting clones. “Would you care to spar, Neya?”Hm, why not, though I won’t make it easy for you.”

They quickly found a room which had most likely been used for that very purpose, training. Cassus was a little rusty, though he was still able to fight well. They ignited their sabers and bowed to each other. They charged at each other, with Cassus pressing the offence and Neya on defence, their sabers clashed on and on, with one parrying the other and repeating the pattern. “So, what do you think about Ossus?” Cassus said with heavy breaths, “The history here is amazing, but I feel we’re being a bit rushed. But we’re handling it, after all that’s why we having 37th and 1st in orbit.” Neya spoke as they continued sparring. “I have to agree, but Thrane's doing well, a shame he hasn’t been promoted yet.” He nodded in agreement. Their sparring went on for a long while, before Neya finally managed to disarm Cassus, quickly she moved her saber to point at his chest as his saber went flying. “I see you’ve been practicing.” He chuckled as he used the force to shoot his lightsaber back into his hand. Just at that moment a young Jedi Knight entered the room. “We’re all communing in the inner great hall.”

Cassus took a seat right next to Kylar as he begun his speech. “Welcome friends! This is an historic day, as it the first gathering of Jedi and friends on Ossus in over 2,000 years. Let us mark this occasion with some warm food, cold drinks, and then we will discuss our purpose on this world.......and our new mandate to the galaxy." “Well I see you haven’t gotten any worse at speeches, now the question everyone’s wondering is when are you getting that promotion? You're the single most accomplished Jedi Knight, hell not even I could top that, and that’s saying a lot.” Cassus asked, it really was a good question. Kylar may have been a Jedi Knight, but to most he held the respect of a Master.

Several Jedi returned Kylar's toast with cheers and thanks. As those assembled settled down for a meal and refreshments, the hall began to hum with the chatter of dozens of conversations, filled with apprehension and excitement. This was a time of new discovery for the Order.

Thanking the attendants who laid several platters of food on the table for those nearest him, Kylar then turned to Cassus with a smirk on his face, "Promotion to Master? I think some members of the Council would die of shock at the thought, especially Master Mundi." He poured himself another drink. "In all seriousness Cassus, I don't yearn for the title of Master. To sit on councils or committees all day.......spend endless hours in meditation attempting to soothsaye glimpses of the future from the Force......no, that is not for me. The Force propels me to take action to help others, to intervene, protect, and even to fight. I am a man of action. I am a Knight. Though perhaps one day, I may take on a padwan. But for now, I have too many responsibilities to take on such a task. We already have plenty of Masters for that", he finished with a grin.

Though in his heart, Kylar did yearn for a type of promotion.....more of a calling to a mantle long forgotten. A title of the old days only taken up during the darkest hours.......which he feared were not far off.

Months Later

The Council had given Jedi Knight Kylar the assignment of resettling Ossus, the Jedi's prized jewel and homeworld. Bela longed to step foot on the planet again, at a place she hadn't been in what felt like centuries. Would it illuminate her spirit like it once did during her training days with her master, or had it been swept with an underbelly of darkness that would slowly eat away at the younglings? The future of the Order was entrusted to the millennia-old world, and the Jedi on it would be ushering in the next era of the Jedi. Already, under Kylar's command, there had been new facilities built to ensure the Jedi would have everything they need on-world.

Times were treacherous, but the Jedi had to be stronger, bolder, quicker than their enemies. Now and forever. Hopefully, Ossus would provide not just a much-needed new home away from politics for her Jedi kin but also a powerful capital from which the Order would repel the galaxy of evil. The important thing was to ensure it would be well-protected. Perhaps, she'd have to sit down with Kylar and discuss scrubbing any remaining public record of its coordinates.

The Grand Master's transport landed on the surface quietly. Yet it was her first few steps off the ship that brought her to her knees, in awe of the planet's majesty, grace, and light. It was as if all at once she could feel a rush of spirits entrap her soul. Wait, no. Not entrap. Embrace. Warm. Tighten. The barrenness of the land had its beauty restored by the spirits that dwelled there. Their forebears. Bela drew and ignited her lightsaber, then planted it firmly into the ground before her as she rested her head against its hilt. "In you, we trust, masters."

"No, Bela Khess. We are the roots. You are the branches. Rely not on the past. Trust in each other, and your future will be made clear..." a voice whispered, trailing off into the distance with a suspicious gust of wind.

Bela nodded, then proceeded into the first great hall to find Kylar and the other Jedi.

Location - Ossus, Hall of Knights

(Ambient Music)

Kylar tightened down the new circuit conductor with his hydrospanner, and then finished repairing the old terminal by fully soldering the cable to the relay connection. Removing his welding googles, he shut the ancient rugged electrical panel and leaned over to shove the old disconnect into the ON position.

**SPARK**

There was a small flash as electricity jumped thru the relay and the light overhead dimmed, yet the breaker didn't trip this time. "Finally", he said aloud. "Let's hope this works". He leaned down over the upper ledge he stood on to shout to the technicians and attendants below. "Alright guys, give it another go!"

After a brief shuffle of glow sticks in the barely lit cavern, Kylar could hear his crew priming the generator motor again and a low rumble as the motor sparked to life for the first time in centuries. Gears groaned and a massive metal belts creaked as the large door motors kicked into action and suddenly cracks of light appeared below him as dozens of large hangar doors opened in the cavern wall and were rolled up and away as fresh cool air blew in revealing the vast space of this underground hangar below the Hall of Knights. The floor was laid stone with varying tiled markings that once served as parking spaces to land ships. Some areas were shallower, with room for half a dozen starfighters, and evidence of ancient unloading gear and ladders were strewn about. Yet others were much deeper, space enough to land multiple CR-90 corvettes side-by-side.

The view out of the massive hangar openings revealed the wide canyon that ran along the side of their new home. Just over the next ridge, snow capped mountains filled the view beyond the grey and orange stone of the canyon's walls, while far below a cold river rumbled and sprayed water against the rock walls.

Kylar smiled, pleased with their work. There was more than enough space here to dock all the Order's small craft with room to spare. He always marveled at the sheer magnitude the Jedi used to be compared to the size of their current Order. But they would be so again. Ossus was their past and their future. "Well done everyone. Get more crews down here to clear out the old debris and clean out this space. I want new maintenance gear unloaded from our transports and spare motors in place so we can begin maintenance on the hangar doors," he paused for a moment, ".......oh, and find Master Senara. As you shift thru the old equipment and abandoned crates, ask her to look over any items of interest encase any relics or lore books were left behind during the great evacuation when the world was abandoned."

As his men turned to address the various tasks across the hangar, Kylar turned and ascended the steps back up into the Hall main levels. He was still wiping grease and dirt from his hands as he walked into the main audience chamber when he noticed Grandmaster Bela entering the outer doors. Tucking the rag into into his belt, he walked quickly to greet her. In simple attire still covered in dirt, he offered a low bow, "Welcome to Ossus, Grandmaster. This is your new Hall of Knights. The Jedi Sentinels have been working tirelessly into restoring the Hall and exploring the surrounding lands of the planet."

Neya scrolled through the inventory taken by the clones, distracted by 8 troopers carrying boxes full of old equipment. She sighed, she knew restoring Ossus would require work, but she still missed the days of celebration, days which were unfortunately, far behind them. "Troopers, start moving the crates full that have been checked out of here, who knows how many more there are to search through."

Even though she wasn't a fan of the work, it was what she did best. "Also wheres Commander Valorous? He should be here to help." The troopers stared at each other, almost as if unsure of how to respond. "Well, where is he?"

"I dont believe he's here, he went out searching for something with a few clones."

The Jedi Master sighed again, seems not even months of no results can stop him. She knew what he was searching for, and she knew he would fail yet again. Hopefully he'd get over it this time. "Well, find some more help. These boxes wont move themselves."

She walked over to one crate, and opened. Nothing of note, there wasn't much to find, but nonetheless, she kept doing her job, and continued her routine.

"What good you've done, Kylar," she said with a bright smile. The place was worth every penny, and Kylar was worth every ounce of her respect for what he had accomplished. He had no doubt that one day he would succeed her as Grand Master. That is, after they found time to discuss some precipitating details. She paused from her thought to ask, "Come, let us walk, on your lead. I'd like to speak with some of the other Jedi. I'm sure they've come from all over upon hearing about Ossus' revival. I'd like to hear from them directly." As her feet began shuffling in whatever direction Kylar would lead her, Bela began her questions. "Are we ready then for all of the remaining younglings to be brought on-planet? And when do we anticipate being fully operational? Much of my time requires me on Coruscant to, sadly, manage the politics, but the future growth of our Order is my top priority. And that priority....will soon eclipse our need to keep the Republic from falling apart."

"Thank you Grandmaster, please come this way." As she spoke, Kylar lead Bela Khess thru the outer atriums and into the great feast hall which was now divided between large open training spaces and long dining tables for all who now called Ossus home. The hall was bustling with conversations of dozens of Jedi and allied soldiers discussing the latest training regiment, what tasks they had been assigned to, or the examining maps of the areas of the planet that they were exploring.

They moved thru the bustling activity, stopping here and there to speak with various groups, and then proceeded up a stone stairwell to the next section of the Hall of Knights. "Near the entire structure of the Hall is built into this mountain side. Blessing to be sure, as the mountain's strength is what has preserved so much of this space from the cataclysm and from the effects of time. The entire structure is stable, and besides needing to restore running water, electricity, and modern computer systems, we mostly just moved in and needed to clean the dust," he said with smile. He ran his hand along the cool stone walls of the corridor they were in. At the last moment he had to raise his arm out of the way as a trio of younglings went sprinting past them and laughing.

"Excuse us, Masters!", they waved as the ran towards to feast hall. Kylar burst into a hearty laugh, and turned to Bela. "You inquired about younglings. Master K'Kruhk has already brought transport of younglings and padwans from one of Midrim enclaves. Its safer here, and now with so many Jedi gathering, they will have plenty of teachers." He gestured towards the doorway from which the younglings had emerged. Inside was a wide dormitory with twenty (20) beds and large stone hearths in the middle of the room. The fires were blazing filling the space with toasty air to hold of the morning snow flurries seen thru the windows. "Its a little colder than Coruscant, and we're still working on how to best route central air systems through the Hall. In the meantime, we go back to the traditional ways. Roaring fires keep the Hall warm and blankets shield our younglings at from the night chill. And all the dormitories and barracks have been fully restored and prepared for the Order, Grandmaster. You could move the entire Coruscant Temple's population here, and we'd still have beds to spare."

They walked on, and were greeted by larger windows which looked out of the natural stone of this Jedi fortress. Outside Jedi were hurrying between tasks, either on foot or by speeder bike. Additional stone and modular structures were set-up throughout the valley, which housed the first members of the Phoenix Legion. Banners could be seen along the old stone roadway between the structures, each bearing the fire-orange emblem of the rising phoenix. "These men and women come from many worlds and backgrounds, even some are clone troopers. All have come here in secret and enlisted in the Jedi's Phoenix Legion, as are all the officers and attendants in the starships that guard our new home in orbit. They know its importance, and helping us rebuild here. And in many unique ways, I should add. If you look off into the next valley, you'll see we have already established farms!"

Ossus_farms.jpg

"Its simply amazing. Even in this cold and harsh climate, life springs forth if you just apply the effort. We plan to keep expanding until we can become fully self-sufficient to grow and provide food for everyone stationed on planet."

They moved on then, descending down past multiple off-branching hallways and stairs which lead to more quarters, mediation areas, training rooms, and armories. "And now, let us meet with the Jedi Knights who have rallied to our call and gathered on this world. Ahead is the largest theater classroom we have internally, and is currently the primary space for our Knights to plan off-world missions. Though its current role is focused on one of the most important tasks we have yet to complete here: Finding the Great Library."

He lead Bela into a large amphitheater room filled with over a hundred (100) Knights and attendants. Overhead holo-display showcased the maps of the surrounding areas that they had explored, and many Jedi were in deep conversation on what to do next or reviewing old tablets and texts, looking to glean any clues on the Great Library's location. In the upper sections, Masters were holding history classes for their pupils who were eagerly listening to learn of the grand history Ossus and the legacy of the Jedi Knights in the days of old.

Rowan Caltera
Descending upon Ossus

Shenanigans on Coruscant aside, Rowan's leave had been...good for him? Yeah, it'd been good. Mostly.

The call to come to Ossus had surprised him, though. He hadn't realized that the Order had established a foothold on the planet again, let alone resettling it, and remodeling and restoring the temples of old for imminent habitation. The galaxy was changing, that much was for sure, and apparently the Jedi were changing with it. Rowan, for one, wasn't sure whether that change would be a good thing. It stood to reason that the answer would depend on whether said change was ultimately progression or regression.

Pings drew Rowan's attention to his interceptor's display panel. The Hall of Knights and an ad-hoc landing pad lay below, beckoning him through the clouds. A tap of the controls and twist of the yoke sent him into a slow dive towards the surface at a roughly 45 degree angle. The engines whined and the interceptor rattled as he plunged into the clouds.

A strange feeling wrapped around him, then. From a distance, Ossus had felt...different, that much was certain. Unlike Coruscant's bustle of trillions upon a world of metal and technology, this planet was much more vibrant and alive. And, in a way, aware of him. It wasn't malicious, though. He didn't think it was, anyway. It was hard to put into words, even for an empath like him. It was...still. Peaceful. Warm, in a way. With those feelings came another, akin to Ossus opening its arms wide in welcome.

It unsettled Rowan.

This enveloping sensation only grew as he landed and disembarked from his interceptor. “Don't let them mess with the ship too much, R4,” he told his astromech.

R4-L9 warbled an affirmative, but Rowan had already turned to face the Hall of Knights.

It was spectacular. Incredibly old, yet lovingly crafted from the mountain itself. The mostly-barren landscape was beautiful in its own stark way. Apparently there were farms in an adjacent valley, though he couldn't see them from here.

Try as he might, Rowan was unable to fully appreciate the physical beauty of the architecture. That same feeling continued to surround him, intensifying as he entered the Hall. It suffused the very air, millennia of memories etched upon the planet through the stylus of the Force. It was similar to the Coruscant temple, only...more, if that was possible. One thing was certain: it was very Jedi. Even pulling up his mental shields only did so much, like using a raincoat while swimming.

This feeling probably made him uncomfortable because he had had little experience in places where the Force had been so palpably present that it was almost tangible. That's how Rowan rationalized his discomfort, at least.

Conversation and labor made for an everpresent audible background to Rowan's trek through the Hall. There were more people here than he'd expected. Jedi, soldiers, Service Corps... And he sensed the emotions of many more than the ones he saw. Rowan himself may have been mistaken for one of the latter two at first due to his combination of nontraditional clothing and grey armor. Granted, he wasn't fully armored, but habit dictated he don basic pieces like gauntlets, greaves, and pauldrons. The lightsaber at his side clarified the matter for any who saw it, though.

Before long, he found himself in an amphitheater with close to a hundred other Jedi.

Oh boy. His favorite.

Most were conversing in murmurs or had their noses buried in datapads, though a few long-winded lecturers were going on about Ossus to those who cared to listen. Rowan's grasp on Ossus' history was relatively shaky apart from the basics, but he didn't want to be lulled into a coma before the meeting began. There would be plenty of time for that still.

Footsteps behind him brought Rowan from his reverie, making him realize that he'd been standing there in front of the doorway for a bit, unsure where would make for an ideal spot to sit.

Rowan muttered an apology as he shuffled to the side. Seeing that it was Kylar Thrane and Bela Khess who had walked up behind him made Rowan start, though. “Er. Knight Thrane. Grandmaster Khess.” He instinctively snapped to attention and nodded hastily to each of them.

Here, Rowan was so out of his element that one didn't need to be an empath to see how uncomfortable he was. It was written all over his face.

Aboard one of the Venator-class Star Destroyers that orbits the planet of Ossus, clones are hard at work with setting up supplies that were brought over from Coruscant. Among the clones was a young Miralukan man that was helping them with the set up. Some of the clones come up to the young man and set down some boxes. "So, how does it feel coming to the planet that will house the new Jedi Temple, Zenith?"

The young man stands up and looks at the group of clones, speaking up with a cheery attitude. "It feels good. It will be nice to stand on land, but it is going to be even better to walk through the temple when I get there." The clones chuckle a little bit before one of them speaks up. "Well, you had best be going then. It seems that more and more ships are arriving, via hyperspace."

One of the clones throws Zenith a towel, with which he uses to dry himself of the sweat from a hard day's work. After finishing drying off, he tosses the towel back to the clone and speaks up, "Thanks for all the help you guys. Is the starfighter ready yet?" One of the clones chimed in, "Well it's kind of not, we are still working out some kinks. But if you want, you can use one of our fighters." Zenith looked toward the fighters in the hanger, his eye trailing from one to another. His gaze finally landed on a Class Z-95 starfighter. He pointed at it and looked back at the group, "There's my ride for the day." He picked up his belongings and walked over to the fighter, with the group in tow.

Once at the fighter, Zenith opens up the cockpit hatch and tosses his things into it and hoists himself inside. One of the clones looks at him and then the ship, then back at him. "You know, looking at you in there, it kind of looks like that ship was made for you." He looks over at the clone and just smirks, chiming in. "It may as well be such. Think you can make some modifications to one for me when I come back?" The clone chuckles, "Well, it will take some time, but I am sure that we can think of something." Zenith nods his head as he pulls a latch down, causing the cockpit hatch to close over him. The clone troopers begin to back away as they wave to him. He waves back to them as he starts pressing a few buttons, causing the fighter to come to life. The fighter lifts off and exits the hangar, flying out into space and down into the atmosphere of the planet below.

Zenith was in awe as his fighter broke the atmosphere and flew overhead, looking at the scenery of the land below, until the new Jedi Temple itself was in view. The three statues of Jedi holding lightsabers was a majesty for him to behold, even from the air. He went through the landing process, seeing where all of the other fighters were landing, and landed in a spot that was close by to the temple. Once the fighter had landed, Zenith grabbed his bag and popped the hatch. As the hatch was lifting, the air of the planet hit him. It was good to take in a planet's air, after being cooped up on a ship for months on end. But that was not the only thing that caught his attention, for it was the swirling vortex of the Force that this particular part of the planet was giving off. The Miralukan jumped out of the fighter and looked toward the Jedi Temple. This was now a new life for the young padawan to grow in the force and learn more than he had ever learned before. Zenith began his trek into the temple, looking around and seeing all of the Jedis that had arrived as well.

Bela adored the beautiful architecture of the restored temple. Even more, it was buzzing alive with hundreds of Jedi, a sight to behold after they had been scattered throughout the galaxy on missions for much of the Clone Wars. With the War nearing its inevitable end, in her eyes, the Grandmaster had set focus on the Order's next chapter. No longer could they be an arm of politics. Rather, the Jedi had to become more of themselves. To look beyond a shadow. To ascend into the greatness of the sun and be the guardians of righteousness as always intended. That would take the sacrifice of certain traditions and alliances, but the Jedi would be stronger for it. It was why the Council entrusted her with the position after Master Yoda's demise on Kashyyyk.

Ossus was now home. As they entered the ampitheater, they brushed past Jedi Knight Rowan Caltera @Blarg Spartan 999. She grinned as he snapped to attention. "Rowan Caltera, isn't it?" the Grandmaster asked meekly. "I'm glad to see you. So, what do you think of the Jedi's new home?"

Zenith was walking through the amphitheater, taking in the sights of what was around him and sounds of many Jedi that littered it. He saw padawans, knights, and even masters that he had seen at the graduation ceremony on Coruscant. He noticed one of the masters, Bela Khess from back on Coruscant when he first arrived there. He walked up to her, seeing Rowan Caltera along with them. He stopped as soon as he was close to them and placed his bag down. He stood up again and bowed to the both of them. "It is nice to see you again Ms. Bela. I trust that you are well after the move?"

Piercing the veil which was hyperspace was none other than one small, miniscule vessel arriving within the firmament of the Ossus Systems furthest reaches echoing the nebulous background. This small vessel was none other than the starship of a Jedi, angular slopes at thirty-five degrees and arced down forming the center fuselage at which point on the right side her own R2-V7 was currently fitted with it's rounded violet-hued dome with bits being made see-thru. The arcing hues of gunmetal grey and light violet contracted well, the vessel's s-foils remaining locked in place rather than deployed in combat configuration while at the center of it all was the ovaloid cockpit which fit one individual the craft propelled by her twin ion engines. And who was the individual currently throttling controls within the cockpit?

The female currently bereft of her full flight-helm was a platinum blonde beauty with well-ordered tresses of silken hair parted to both sides and neatly tied behind into a ponytail with small rivulets of platinum blonde hair fastened in beads lining just behind her ears. The woman, curvaceous and beautiful in countenance almost like a fairy, was donned within a dull blue jumpsuit partially pulled down revealing a white ribbed tank-top. At her side was the dual-phase lightsaber hilt roughly thirteen inches long, a multi-tool of sorts, and a small trinket from Corellia attained on one of the individual's many excursions. The soft dulcet tone came crisp over the jedi-specific signal to the flight tower of Ossuss' hangars. "Jedi Knight Talia Raihart, Clearance Code 0-1STK-05-SERYTH, requesting permission to land. It's nice to be home, Tower."

The Eta-2 Actis Interceptor folded inwards and kicked off with her Afterburners which pushed her through the System at high speed of 180 MGLTs thanks to modification made by this Individual. Not only had she added afterburners but had upped the armament to a pair of dual laser cannons and a concussion missile launcher. And so the craft would come into orbit, preparing to land. Should she be granted permission would then set down and land at last. The cockpit sliding open, Talia would leap out of the craft and head into the Temple proper to meet with the new Grandmaster and her peer Jedi Knights.

As well as one can be with the rapidly changing politics of the galaxy,” Bela replied to Padawan Zenith (@RedZero197) with a soft chuckle. “But I’m happy the Order has a place to once more call home. Even happier to see padawans like you here, eager to start fresh. May this humble abode last us for a millennia.

Another Jedi arrived, Knight Talia (@Silver). “Ah, Knight Talia. Finally settling down, are we?” she remarked with a grin. She looked at all of those gathered and took a deep sigh of relief. “It really is good to see you all. The Jedi are often scattered across outposts these days. Come and sit.” She gestured to a nearby table and put in an order for drinks. “Tell me, what exciting adventures do you have to speak of?
