Character - Kylar Thrane, Jedi Knight
Location - Ryloth
Kylar's heart was heavy as they flew thru hyperspace. Another Jedi slain by Imperial hunters......another brother lost. Gungnir had been cut down by an Imperial raiding party whilst on a mission to deliver aid to the loyal Twi'lek's of Ryloth. Cham Sindual himself had sent Kylar and the Masters of the Jedi Order his condolences and pledged to raise a memorial to Gungnir's sacrifice in Ryloth's name.
In life, Gungnir had been many things. Surely a class-clown of the Jedi Sentientels, but he had a truly brave heart and his endlessly pursuit of joy would be missed. The Jedi Order would be lessened by his loss. The memorial funeral had already been planned for the Temple on Coruscant by Jedi Master Mundi, but Kylar had put a stop to that. No memorial.....there would be an actual funeral....a knight's pyre, in the proper tradition at the Hall of Knights on Ossus. Mundi had been fuming once again as Kylar had overruled him, but these were his Knights, not Mundi's political pawns. And they were already at war with the Galactic Empire, so what did it matter how many Imperials were slain for Kylar to recover Gungnir's body?
That is why Kylar had come to Ryloth. That is why the Ancestral Blade's hull was packed with loyal Jedi and soldiers. That is why when they exited hyperspace he had slammed all six (6) engines to full burn straight into the atmosphere of Ryloth.
Cham Sindual had provided him with coordinates of the located Imperial landing site. While his Free Ryloth Army launched a surprise attack at another Imperial supply depot, Kylar's strike team would hit the airfield directly, recover Gungnir's body before the Imperial dogs shipped it off world, and then retreat back to the stars.
They were diving fast thru the clouds, and Kylar keyed his mic to speak to the others. "We are coming in hot. I'm going to drop us right on top of the base. After a strafing run, I'll lower the boarding ramp while we are still in flight. Jet pack out to descend and take the fight to the enemy! Establish a quick perimeter and find Gungnir's body."
He paused for a moment, with bitter anguish in his words, "Oh and no quarter for the Imperials. No time for prisoners. ETA eight (8) minutes to contact. May the Force be with us."
