Government of the Sith Confederacy

The Sith Confederacy was formed following the lure of the Dark Side and teachings of Ludo Kressh to Dark Acolyte, Sebastian Kade. In a power struggle duel with General Grevious, Sebastian Kade won out and declared himself the Dark Lord of the Sith and announced the transformation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) into the new Sith Confederacy. The new Dark Lord of the Sith Sebastian Kade assumed near total control over many of its assets and functions. In the wake of these events the Dark Lord of the Sith assembled his Sith Council, sometimes called the Dark Council, of high-level functionaries and awarded them seats on the new Sith Council.

At the urging of Warmaster Remus Kelbor, the Dark Lord of the Sith decreed that each world conquered by the Sith would have a Governor assigned, either a devout Dark Jedi, a true Sith follower or a military official. These worlds would utilize whatever they could to support the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Sith Confederacy in their conquest of the Galaxy.

Politically speaking, the Sith Confederacy, is at best a loose coalition of Sith and Sith military officials held together through the power and authority of the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Dark Council to a degree. The Sith Confederacy has numerous political factions, often influenced by each members respective beliefs in the Sith teachings, ideologies or desires. In terms of titles and leadership roles, Sith and Dark Jedi will often utilize a number of titles and naming conventions such as follows: Dread Lord, Battlelord, Alchemist, Grand Consort, High Lord, Prophet, Seer, Overlord, Overseer, Lord, etc.

The corporations and trade guilds which made up the Confederacy of Independent Systems were offered two options: bend the knee or suffer the wrath of the Dark Lord. The members of the Confederacy generally chose to suffer: some fleeing to the Corporate Sector, some rebellious minds creating hold-out areas, others re-organizing their efforts in the New Republic and the Galactic Empire under amnesty programs. Those that chose to bend the knee were wholly integrated into the structure of the Sith Confederacy.

The remnants of the Confederacy's members also remains; a number of organizations within the Confederacy were faced with two options: bend the knee or suffer. Some elements chose to suffer, some creating hold-out areas, many of them fleeing to the Corporate Sector, others re-organizing their efforts in the New Republic, some creating peace with the Galactic Empire and operating within their borders, some of them however chose to bend the knee.

Former Confederacy members status:
  • Nute Gunray (Viceroy of the Trade Federation) - Granted amnesty by the New Republic and Galactic Empire; continues to operate within the New Republic, Galactic Empire and Corporate Sector.
  • Poggle the Lesser (Archduke of Geonosis) - Swore fealty to the Galactic Empire in an effort to save his people; operates at the behest of the Galactic Empire.
  • Wat Tambor (Foreman of the Techno Union) - Granted amnesty by the New Republic and Galactic Empire; continues to operate within the New Republic, Galactic Empire and Corporate Sector.
  • San Hill (Chairman of the InterGalactic Banking Clan) - Declared neutrality prior to the Sith takeover, operates Galaxy-wide, including deals with the Sith Confederacy.
  • Cat Miin (Presidente of the Commerce Guild) - Cat Miin, the Chief Aide to former Presidente Shu Mai, took over the Commerce Guild following the death of Shu Mai at the hands of Dark Lord of the Sith Sebastian Kade. Granted amnesty by the New Republic and Galactic Empire; continues to operate within the New Republic, Galactic Empire and Corporate Sector.
  • Passel Argente (Magistrate of the Corporate Alliance) - Granted amnesty by the New Republic and Galactic Empire; continues to operate within the New Republic, Galactic Empire and Corporate Sector.
  • Po Nudo (Leader of the Hyper-Communications Cartel) - Granted amnesty by the New Republic and Galactic Empire; continues to operate within the New Republic, Galactic Empire and Corporate Sector.
  • Tikkes (Leader of the Quarren Isolation League) - Conflict continues between the Mon Cals and the Quarren in the Mon Cal Sector.

Sith and Dark Jedi within the Sith Confederacy

At the urging of the Dark Lord of the Sith a formalized structure was put in place to organize the Dark Jedi followers known as the "Dark Acolytes" of the Confederacy. At the very top was the Dark Lord of the Sith, unquestioned in both their rule and mastery of the Force and the leadership of the Sith Confederacy. In terms of ranks and titles, the Dark Lord proscribed a basic, functional rank system that was influenced by both Sith Empire's of the past and the Jedi Order.

Those who have not been selected to enter into the one of the many Sith Academies are often referred to as "Dark Jedi" or "Fallen Jedi", sometimes by higher-ranking Sith they are called "Sith Minions".

Ranks and titles of the Sith Confederacy

  • Dark Lord of the Sith
  • Sith Lord (with Darth title and a member of the Sith Council) - Those Darth's who have either earned the favor of the Dark Lord, proven effective in their duties or have built up enough of a power base to potentially threaten the Dark Lord are awarded a seat on the Sith Council, sometimes called the Dark Council. The members of the Sith Council are the rough equivalents of Jedi Council Members.
  • Sith Lord (with Darth title) - Sith Lords who have developed a vast network of apprentices and clients and have proven themselves before the Dark Lord are awarded the coveted "Darth" title. Sith Lords with a Darth title can be seen closer to Jedi Masters and leaders of the Jedi Order.
  • Sith Lord (without Darth title) - Sith Lords who ascend past the rank of Sith Apprentice and have created a network of Apprentices are granted the title of "Sith Lord" or "Lord of the Sith"; they have not been awarded a "Darth" title, something that they strive for. Sith Lords that do no posses a "Darth" title can be most similarly described as senior Jedi Knights and new Jedi Masters.
  • Sith Apprentice - Sith Apprentices are those who have completed their academy training and have become "Sith", they are generally assigned a Master and are granted the ability to pursue one of the Sith Paths of Power. Sith Apprentice's are close equivalents of Jedi Knights, notably newer Jedi Knights.

Upon reaching the rank of "Sith Apprentice" some Sith chose to dedicate themselves to a specific "Path" which leads them to specialty within the Sith Confederacy as a whole. Traditionally those who enter into a specific "Path of the Sith" find themselves closely associating with one of the specific cults of the Sith as well.

Cults of the Sith Confederacy

One interesting note about the Sith Confederacy was the development of cults and followings of specific Dark Lords of the Sith and Sith Lords.

Generic cults

  • Naddist (Followers of Freedon Nadd) - Naddist sometimes known as Followers of Freedon Nadd follow Freedon Nadd and his teachings. Naddist are particularly skilled in the use of the Force but are also among the best lightsaber duelist within the Sith. Naddist are peculiar in that they often develop functioning governments and socities to support their operations and believe that it is a component of their success as Sith.
  • Cult of Kressh or Followers of Kressh
  • Thralls of Ajunta Pall or Exiles of Pall - The Thralls of Ajunta Pall also known as the Exiles of Pall are followers of the first Dark Lord of the Sith Ajunta Pall. While those who are members of the cult do find themselves studying Sith magicks and Sith alchemy, they also tend to find themselves on the frontiers of Sith controlled space focusing on finding new sources for the Sith Confederacy to grow and adapt.
  • Order of Revan (Revanites)
  • Custodians of Qel-Droma - The Custodians of Qel-Droma are followers of Ulic Qel-Droma and dedicate themselves to the study of utilizing the Force to see into the future and engaging in lightsaber combat, utilizing their skill for foresight to enhance their abilities in combat.
  • Paragons of Bane - The Paragons of Bane are followers of Darth bane and dedicate themselves to the study of Darth Bane, their heretical, illegal belief in the Rule of Two, and their general interest in advancing their powers and lightsaber combat abilities. The Paragons of Bane also ritually practice the use of Orbalisk bugs to enhance their protection.
  • Hounds of Malak - The Hounds of Malak are followers of Darth Malak and dedicate themselves to the study of war and strategy. While not ignoring the Force and lightsabers, the Hounds of Malak find themselves often in the position of commanding military units and vessels.
  • Ravagers of Malgus - The Ravagers of Malgus are followers of Darth Malgus, a self-proclaimed Emperor of the Sith and Sith Lord. Darth Malgus was viewed as an incredible military tactician, practitioner of the Dark Side and dangerous lightsaber combatant. The Ravagers of Malgus are noted for their sometimes reckless ambition, military strategy and tactical capability and well-rounded ability in combat that borders on bloodlust.
  • Defenders of Marr - The Defenders of Marr are followers of Darth Marr, a prominent Sith Lord whom was noted for his command of the Sith Empire's military efforts. Similar to the Hounds of Malak and the Ravagers of Malgus, the Defenders of Marr are involved in the operation of the Sith Confederacy's military. Defenders of Marr also tend to shy away from some of the more "darker" elements of the Sith and Dark Side, instead adhere to the more "Grey" study of the Force that Darth Marr held towards the end of his life.

Force cults

  • Magi of Ragnos - The Magi of Ragnos are followers of Marka Ragnos and dedicate themselves to the study of the Dark Side of the Force, the study of Sith alchemy and magicks but also being ambitious for power and leadership. Members of the Magi of Ragnos are sometimes called "Ressurectionist of Ragnos" due to their obsession with immortality and the return of Marka Ragnos.
  • Emissaries of Nihilus - The Emissaries of Nihilus are followers of Darth Nihilus, Lord of Hunger. The study of Darth Nihilus is considered to be a pathway to utter destruction as those who follow the Lord of Hunger often become reliant on the Force and must utilize it and consume it or else they suffer from immense pain.
  • The Chosen of Kun - The Chosen of Kun also known as the Cult of Exar Kun are followers of Exar Kun who dedicate themselves to the study of the Dark Side of the Force and deepening their understanding of the Dark Side as a whole.
  • Oracles of Sadow - The Oracles of Sadow are followers of Naga Sadow, a renown Sith alchemist and profound user of Sith magick. Perhaps the most elusive and difficult of the cults of the Sith, the Oracles of Sadow do not welcome new comers unless they are sought out by them. Those who enter into the Oracles of Sadow should expect to unlock the steps to wielding Sith magick and Sith alchemy.

Warrior cults

  • Brotherhood of Tulak Hord - The Brotherhood of Tulak Hord are followers of Tulak Hord who was renown as one of the Galaxy's lightsaber duelist. Those who dedicate themselves to the Brotherhood of Tulak Hord will find themselves studying the path of the Sith Juggernaut or full dedication to the path of the Sith Warrior. Typically seen sporting heavy armor, utilizing lightsabers and eschewing the Force in place of supporting their desire for melee combat.
  • Harbingers of Sion - The Harbingers of Sion are followers of Darth Sion who specialized in hunting Jedi. Those who dedicate themselves to the study of Darth Sion typically become Sith Assassin's and are skilled hunters of Jedi and enemies of the Dark Lord alike.
  • Zealots of Zannah - Zealots of Zannah are followers of Darth Zannah who dedicate themselves to becoming fierce lightsaber combatant's and duelist, only utilizing the Force to protect themselves or when absolutely necessary.
  • Disciples of Bandon - The Disciples of Bandon are followers of Darth Bandon. Those who follow the teachings of Darth Bandon are likely to find themselves given fully to the Dark Side and push themselves to higher and higher levels of cruelty and sadistic behavior.

Military of the Sith Confederacy

The Sith Confederacy has continued to operate out of tradition of the Separatist forces in the Clone Wars in the sense that they possess both organic, sentient forces and droid forces. Since the formation of the Sith Confederacy and the loss of some droid production facilities to either the New Republic or the Galactic Empire, the Sith Confederacy has sought to develop more organic recruiting methods.

Following the formation of the Sith Confederacy a vast majority of the mainline Separatist formations returned to their respective homeworlds/corporations. A number of organic formations however pledged themselves to the new Dark Lord of the Sith. The list below is not exhaustive but serves to provide an idea.
  • Morgukai Shadow Army - Despite the Siege of Saleucami, some Nikto continued to serve the Confederacy within the Morgukai secret society and were deadly Jedi hunters. Morgukai were known to mirror the Jedi in some respects. They were notably equipped with Cortosis staves and agreed to serve the Sith only as long as they wished.
  • Nimbus Commandos - Based out of their homeworld of Jabiim, the Nimbus Commandos are feared and elite mercenaries (and defenders of Jabiim) that aligned with the Confederacy and continue to operate as a special forces unit for the CIS.
  • Kolkpravis - Following the capture of the world of Kalee the warrior Kaleesh decided to follow the Sith Confederacy pledging their warriors and people to fight for the Sith. The Sith established a Sith Academy on the planet outside of Shrupak, the main capital and began the process of screen force sensitive Kaleesh to their ranks.
  • Sith Knights - Various elite models of droids have been designed especially for combatting Jedi/Force Users using technology and science to match or overcome mysticism. For obvious reasons some droid series are more common than others, like how EG-9 is the only of it's kind.
