Personality, appearance and history

Appearance: Senator Sabe Jysyal Duelian
Approximately 1.68 meters in height and 61.68 kilograms, Sabe is petite and feminine in figure. She has a youthful appearance and is often overlooked as the diplomatic aide. She is intentional about every move, mindful of non-verbal communication from herself and others. On duty, she is poised, articulate, and diplomatically mannered. However, between jobs, she is playful and relaxed. Exercise and healthy eating are simply part of the senatorial package, and she must often be reminded of the importance of her physical appearance.
Personality traits
+ Dutiful - Sabe has a strong sense of responsibility and strives to meet her obligations and commitments. She believes in upholding the values and beliefs of her people and making them known in the senatorial chambers. She knows and place and accepts the role she plays within the Galactic Bureaucracy, trying everyday to perform at her best to ensure a protected future for her planet and the galaxy.
+ Loyal - Sabe values stability, security, and freedom. She is eager to preserve the principles and core values of the Galactic Republic. She is extremely loyal and trustworthy to partners who remain committed to the same cause and has little patience for those who waver or serve their own cause. She strives to be a pillar in her work with the senate, especially after the arrest of Chancellor Palpetine.
+ Empathetic - Sabe understands that the needs of those around the galaxy are many and diverse. She strongly believes in connecting with the people she serves and meeting them face to face. She welcomes input from differing political ideologies, understanding that the best solution to any problem can be found in collaborative problem solving. She is focused on galactic harmony and cares deeply about her colleagues and constitutions, respecting their values, beliefs, and feelings; careful to not offend or hurt anybody.
- Political Vanity - The nature of politics involves constant preoccupation with social status and influence. Strong in her political values, beliefs, and decision making, Sabe, must weigh the potential backlash of her decisions to maintain her position in the Senate. This weight is often limiting and destructive to creativity and open-mindedness.
- Idealist - Committed to the Galactic Republic and democratic freedom, Seba is very cautious and overly critical of unconventional ideas which fall outside the current institution. Seba is open about her beliefs and convictions and does not restrain her effort to establish them as mainstream. Seba has become more entrenched in her political beliefs after the arrest of Chancellor Palpatine.
- Insecure - Seba is aware of her need to hear and see a great deal of appreciation. She will often fish for compliments if she feels that her efforts have gone unnoticed. Ultimately, she requires reassurance that she has made the right decisions and that those decisions have been valued. In order to feel secure and affirmed, Seba will toss herself completely into her work. It is not uncommon for the senator to skip lunches and take on new projects, in order to serve justice.
History:
Early Childhood
Born in the year 51 BBY to Paila and Hysio Duelian, on the planet Bar'leth, Seba grew up within great halls of the Imperial Palace. Her father was the eldest brother of the King and given charge over the Ministry of Defense; her mother, a prominent physician, later given charge of the Imperial Health Service Organization. At a young age, Seba studied with her cousins, including the heir to the throne, at a special school for the Imperial and Noble families of Bar'Leth.
Seba became close friends with Prince Rhysio Duelian and his sister Admessa Duelian. Her father, always in close proximity to the Emperor, placed the children in close proximity on a regular basis. The three would often take adventures through the countryside, fighting wild creatures to defend the castle and homeland. The three were consistent study partners, helping each other through academic weaknesses with their combined strengths. Prince Rhysio often sought Seba's advice on matters in their make believe Imperial Kingdom. This continued throughout their childhood and adolescents.
The Duelian children were enrolled in the Apprentice Legislature and Republic Futures Programs. In addition to academics, Seba formed strong friendships with other political and noble families around the galaxy. She was fortunate to meet Padme Naberrie (38 BBY), a young aspirant of Naboo, and promising defender of the future Republic. The two had shared many conversations about politics, economics, philosophy, and the occasional boy talk. Seba also developed friendships with other prominent families including the Organas and Antilles of Alderaan. Seba would remain connected to these programs throughout her life, mentoring children within the program, and later teaching seminars and classes.
Early Career
At the age of 18 (33 BBY), Seba enrolled at the esteemed Bar'leth University. She was accepted into the Diplomatic Sciences Program, studying courses from within several disciplines: Psychology, Communication, Political Science, Galatic Law, Legislative Practices, and more. This as the first time the Duelian children had been apart. Prince Rhysio, her best friend, had been recalled for special tutelage to prepare for life as future Emperor. Seba focused primarily on her studies, feeling socially awkward among the stereotypes often perpetuated by peers about the Imperial family. She focus on familial relationships and those among friends in the Apprentice Legislature and Republic Futures Programs.
Seba excelled in her studies, taking an interest in humanitarian aspects of Law and Diplomacy. She was introduced to the nefarious acts of the Hutts and other criminal organizations. She was appalled by the black-markets and trafficking of sentient beings. Peers quickly drew her attention to the injustice within her own society. Flabbergasted that such poverty, discrimination, and neglected could take place within the Empire, she became active in student lead activities on campus and drew attention to the topic in papers and debates. Her final capstone project, centered around the personal experiences and research conducted throughout her academic career. With assistance from her mother and endorsement from the Prince, Seba developed the Imperial Rehabilitation Center, a government funded program designed to assist marginalized citizens in achieving independent living and vocational goals.
After graduation, Seba longed to see the injustice of the galaxy at large that was so often discussed in class. Against the wishes of her family, Seba joined the Republic diplomatic Corps, where she was commissioned an officer and stationed on various Republic worlds performing peacekeeping missions. In this role, she was drawn to the trafficking of Twi-lek females as entertainers and sex slaves. While on assignment, she encountered a twi-lek female four years younger than herself working as an 'entertainer'. Unable to interfere, Seba was haunted by the face of that girl. Later that year, Seba was assigned to a detachment on route to the Carnelion Sector. Jedi Master Obi-wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker, received a distress signal which turned into a diplomatic crisis. She assisted the diplomatic team in the creation of a cease fire in 29 BBY.
Senatorial Career
Seba remained in the Republic's Judicial Forces for two years (27 BBY). Facing increasing mortal danger with unrest growing in the galaxy, Seba contacted her mother and father to explore other options that might be available at home. Seba was warmly welcomed. At the request of her cousin, Seba assigned as Junior Representative to the Senatorial delegation of Bar'Leth. It was her hope that she could make a positive difference with less bloodshed as a member of the legislative branch. Senator Dai'Vand suggested she continue her studies, writing a letter to the University of Bar'Leth's Licentiate program. Between the Senator's recommendation and Imperial support, Seba entered an intensive two year distance program, which allowed her to continue serving on the Senatorial staff.
Seba would complete her studies in 24 BBY, after defending her thesis entitled 'Democratic Tyranny'. The focus of her thesis exploring the Naboo Crisis, Prop 31-814D, and the vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum. The document also speculated on the dangers proposed in the Military Creation Act, and the impact such an act would have on democracy, legislation, and freedom. Senator Dai'Vand would retire shortly after her successful defense citing the need for, "someone younger and more courageous" for such drastic decisions the Senate would face in the near future.
Emperor Rhysio of Bar'Leth confirmed the endorsement that Seba should take the role of Senator. The confirmation was ratified and approved by Bar'Leth due process, with support of the citizens; who were greatly supported by her earlier efforts as an undergraduate student in the University. Seba relied heavily on her trusting connections with Bail Organa and Padme Amidala for advice. She was quickly roped into the Loyalist Faction, meshing well with the conservative values and preservation of the democratic Republic.
Seba was greatly troubled by Count Dooku's Raxus address which inaugurated the Confederacy of Independent Systems. She was disheartened by the mass exodus of planets from the Republic, haunted by the speculations made in her Licentiate Thesis. In fear, the Military Creation Act (MCA) is brought up for debate once again. Seba continues to stand with Senator Bail Organa, Padme Amidala, and other loyalist faction members in opposition to the MCA. Meanwhile, she was concerned for the refugees and citizens of the Republic, especially those left by the Confederacy. Much of her 'after hours' work was spent in humanitarian efforts with Bail Organa.
Seba was active in the planning to send relief aid to Christophsis. Advised by Senator Organa to remain on Coruscant, she watched from a distance as the Separatists swooped down and nearly took the planet. Seba also directed personal attention to the people of Ryloth. Disgusted by the neglectful watch of Senator Orn Free Taa, Seba collaborated with similar connections to send relief Aid. She was present at the negotiations with King Katuunko, as Senator Organa attempted to gain right of travel to supply aid before and after the battle of Ryloth.
Fateful Connection
Concern for Ryloth and the neglectful watch of Orn Free Taa, allowed Seba to develop strong connections with the citizens torn apart by war and trafficking. A republic sympathizer, funneling aid shipments, forwarded the contact information for a vigilante groups of Twi'lek resistance fighters who had focused on liberating slaves and transporting them as refugees, in hopes they would return to Ryloth. One batch of collected refugees was funneled to Coruscant. Seba, disguised as a dock worker, met the refugees in person to ensure them a smooth and safe passage to safety. The last Twi'lek off the vessel was a beautiful female who locked eyes with her own. A brief sharing of personal history uncovered the familiarity between them. The Twi'lek was the same female she had gazed upon years ago as a Republic Officer. With assistance from Coruscant security, Seba could develop a relationship with Nalyna'Synda. The two would later marry
19 BBY
The death of Count Dooku had been the hope that the war with the Confederacy would come to an end. However, General Grevious quickly assumed leadership over the standing droid forces. It remains unclear if Grevious shares Dooku's political ideals, which only complicates opportunities for peace and resolution. The revelation that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was a Sith Lord intent on destroying the Jedi has left the Republic unstable and defensive. The faith of many senators and citizens has been shaken in both the Jedi and the Republic, fearful that more has not yet been revealed.
Seba and many within the Loyalist Faction remain unconvinced that sustain war is a viable and achievable means of victory. Placing her trust in the remnants of the Jedi Counsel and the election of Cancellor Tam Cinadra, Seba focuses on the work that she can perform, while attempting to ensure that Republic does not waver in its values and principles.
