The Mandalorian Protectorate is the successor to the Mandalorian Neo-Crusader movement and the Mandalorians under Mandalore Canderous Ordo. The Mandalorian Protectorate is lead by the new Mandalore known as Mandalore the Crusader. The Protectorate was formed in 3850 BBY when the outgoing Mandalorians continued to foster closer relations with the Galactic Republic and the wider galactic community. Mandalorians more and more became involved in different levels of the galactic community. For instance, Mandalorians became involved in bounty hunting, executive protection, security, and mercenary work. It was not until the rise of Rugr Skast who was elected Mandalore after defeating several challengers for the Helm of Mandalore. Rugr Skast, Clan Skast, took the name of Mandalore the Crusader and promised a new era of power for the Mandalorian clans. In 3801 BBY, the same year that he became Mandalore, he called for small warbands and raids against areas near Mandalorian Space. One of his first official acts was to recall all Mandalorians throughout the galaxy and settle them in Mandalorian Space.
By 3800 BBY, the current year, Mandalore the Crusader had issued standing orders to all who answered the call of Mandalore to begin ramping up attacks on the surrounding areas of Mandalorian Space and to focus on establishing spearheads for future invasions. It would appear that Mandalore the Crusader is preparing for a set of New Mandalorian Wars.
Overview of the Mandalorian Protectorate military
The Mandalorian Protectorate military is not quite as organized and clear-cut as other militaries such as the now destroyed Sith Empire or the Galactic Republic. The Mandalorian Protectorate continues to use a color-coded system of "ranks" but generally Mandalorians are ranked by their combat prowess and their combat experience. The common soldier in the Mandalorian Protectorate is permitted to wear Blue (representing reliability), Green (representing duty), black (representing justice). Veteran Mandalorian warriors can don the silver or white colored armor, making them stand out on the battlefield and marking them as veterans of many, many conflicts.
Those soldiers who had shown prowess for training and command are promoted to the "rank" of Rally Master, wearing the feared crimson-colored Mandalorian armor. Mandalorian Rally Masters also serve as political officers and are responsible for the recruitment of new converts to the Mandalorian cause. Warriors who show exceptional prowess with an eye for command and have earned the respect of their warriors are promoted to the "rank" of Field Marshal, sometimes just called Marshal. Mandalorian Field Marshals and Marshals are expected to lead from the front (or in the rear when necessary) and can range from commanding a small strike team to entire fronts in a war. Mandalorian Field Marshal's wear golden Mandalorian armor that is exceptionally crafted.
