Hello SWG Community! As discussed on our Discord server, I would like to kick off a small scale, yet nevertheless grand battle, on the planet JanFathal between Republic and CIS characters. As the battle draws to a close, both sides will be alerted to the declaration of the New Imperial Order by Grand Moff Tarkin and given chances to actively roleplay out how that effects their character in the galaxy. As I said on Discord, I would like to type up a Campaign outline to receive feedback from interested players before launching the first thread! So without further delay......
The Campaign
JanFathal is a mineral/metal rich world in the Northwestern quadrant on route to Muunilinst and Mygeeto, with both Muun and Human citizens making up the majority of society. Neutral in the War up till recent political events resulted in the Miners Union winning most of the world's political control and immediately striking mining deals with the CIS for immense profits. However, a Traditionalist opposition formed of citizens opposed to selling out their world to the CIS, and thus a civil war erupted.
This war started on a small scale, but escalated when additional veins of carbonite and durasteel ores were discovered to be readily available, and thus the Republic Senate voted to aid the Traditionalists to keep the assets out of CIS dominance. The CIS however moved first and landed supplemental sentient commando and standard army droid battalions to support the Unionists. The Republic sent initial advisors to help the Traditionalists, and now are sending detachments of the 104th to reinforce the capital.
This conflict will also correlate to continued action with the siege of Mygeeto, as increased CIS forces here have prevented Republic reinforcements from moving freely in the sector.
Phases
Phase 1 - The Arrival
Goal - Make it planetside and link up with allied forces of your faction.
A small Republic task force of two (2) Venator cruisers and support ships will arrive in orbit with intent to deliver reinforcements and supplies to the surface. This action is treacherous for both Republic and CIS forces alike, as JanFathal is ringed with asteroids which make landing very difficult. Additionally, both sides have laid the asteroid field with space mines and hidden fighter emplacements to harass enemy vessels. CIS currently have a presence on the ground.
Note, the main focus will be over the capital city of Athar, as it is home to the primary world manufacturing centers, off-world communication relays, and primary spaceport. Conflict will take place city block to city block, house-by-house fighting, akin to Stalingrad in World War II.
Phase 2 - Engaging the Enemy
Simply put this will be both sides coordinating and reacting to each others combat attempts while bogged down with limited resources in this heavily ravaged, war-torn capital.
Phase 3 - Investigating Ancient Secrets
In addition to this simple conflict, it comes to attention of both sides that Jedi of the past had searched this world for ancient Force-imbued artifacts. A current Force-user (can be either a Jedi or Fallen Acolyte) is hiding behind their battle strategy to search for these relics, using the conflict as a smoke screen. This can be performed by an actual player, or an invented NPC to drive the story along.
Phase 4 - The Soul of JanFathal
Confronting the discovery of ancient Force-imbued artifacts, players will focus on pushing their side to victory while deciding how to deal with this Force laden discovery. Does one keep these artifacts to themselves? Do they rightfully belong to JanFathal? What lengths will players go to in order to gain victory, and/or the relics?
Please let me know our thoughts and if you are interested, send me a message or respond to this thread so we can plan out the fun activities!! Slainte!
