Syfu’s Raiders

New Republic Marines, 12th Battalion/3rd Renaissance Force by official designation, but Master Jin-Dyer retains no official leadership role over them—on paper. In practice, they are more or less a replacement for the squad of Clone Commandos he led against the Confederacy.

Made up of 8 Special Forces Operators, well-adjusted to deniable works in the shadows. Several members are technically servicing life sentences in the spice mines of Kessel, and other military prisons, but to hear them tell it that is simply because they were caught without support from their handlers. Given carte blanche, and answerable only to Jedi Master Syfu Jin-Dyer as well as the Director of New Republic Intelligence, and if caught by enemy agencies their existence will be denied on behalf of the New Republic Government.

Formed at the behest of Master Jedi Syfu Jin-Dyer sometime in 4 ABY, Jin-Dyer approached the New Republic military without the Jedi Order’s knowledge to requisition a list of eight Marines who would be utilized for deniable and black operations. The one catch was that the Intelligence Agency had to maintain some modicum of control, in exchange for freedom of operation. On paper these eight soldiers disappeared, regardless of what their status was in the legal system or otherwise, forever to be Dead Men Walking. A few had worked together previously, but all generally agreed that this was their last chance to do something they were good at.

Even though the Galaxy was in the aftermath of War, there were still plenty of holdouts to fight, and tonnes of political red tape to cut through; the formation of such a unit went quietly past the eyes of bureaucrats, and kept to the shadows where it belonged. Of course, the unit was expected to perform actions solely for the good of the New Republic, whether they could be acknowledged or not. The unit only operates outside the official knowledge and jurisdiction of the New Jedi Order, despite its tie to it.

Gregor Ma’artok,

Playby: Zaeed Massani/Robin Sachs (Mass Effect Series)

Human male and former Mandalorian Protector. In practice, he is Syfu’s second-in-command.A hard man with seemingly little regard for conscience, but it is very clear he has a line which he will not cross. What that line is, remains to be seen, but Ma’artok has yet to commit known crimes involving children or females. It is no surprise that Syfu and Gregor make fast friends. Gregor recognized the Jedi’s beskar’gam as that of Jinn Beviin, to which Syfu replied with the entire story—that he was now the dreaded Scourge of the Outer Rim. Gregor follows only because he believes Syfu to be Vode—that is a brother. Weapon of choice: a BlasTech Imperial Heavy Repeater with under-barrel flechette launcher for “close encounters.” Lovingly named, Vela.

Da’Gar Bendix

Playby: Jeff Bridges

Human Corellian male, as Da’Gar would insist that it matters. A deadly gunslinger and ex-CorSec Marshall turned Bounty Hunter. It’s been said that Bendix has shot more than one man in the back, and he’s never denied it openly. Full of that typical Corellian Swagger, Bendix’ bravado speaks for itself, though he has tiresome bragging to tell it thrice over. He boasts there isn’t anything he can’t fly, and serves also as the unit’s transport pilot. Has a penchant for cigars and single-malt Corellian scotch, both of which Da’Gar keeps a good personal reserve of—and will sometimes even share with others. His weapon of choice is a matching pair DE-10 blaster pistols.

(OOC Note: The rest are NPCs that don’t matter until I write them in play or others wish to join in the fun, and I will update this post accordingly)
