Zenith circled around to the side to see the Interrogator begin to descend from the recent attack that he and the other fighters had done. The comms came alive with all kinds of cheers and excitement at what they had been able to accomplish. He watches as the ship goes down, only to see another ship, the Avalanche below it. Capitalizing on the combat high that the other fighters were experiencing, Zenith turned on his comms to speak once again.
"Alright boys and girls, don't relax just yet. We aren't done here. I see another ship that needs to be taken down and it is right below this one. R9, do you know anything about what that smaller ship is? I have never seen one like that before."
After a while, the console on the X-Wing begins to light up and writing begins to form on the screen. "What you are seeing is a Vindicator Class Imperial Heavy Cruiser. They are like the smaller version of the Star Destroyer that the squadron had just attacked. Although, it would be wise to take caution Master Valentis. The Heavy Cruiser comes with a multitude of armaments that can rip through fighters and ships. And from what I am gathering from the ship's exterior, there seems to be some electromagnetic interference coming from it."
"An electromagnetic interference? Well, thank you for the warning, but we aren't doing a full-frontal assault on it. We are going to attack the back of it, aiming for that engine. We just have to do it the old-fashioned way, without a targeting computer." Zenith looked down at the ship and started to set up an attack run on monitor, letting R9 transmit the data to the other fighters.
After a little bit, one of the fighters call back on comms. "This plan is even crazier than the last one that you came up with, but hell, we took down that big ship real good, so why not do it again with a smaller one, count me in!" This along with all of the other fighters chiming in unison was all that was needed.
A look of determination appeared on Zenith's face. He responded to all of the fighters in kind. "Alright everyone, close S-Foils and set attack speed to full throttle. We are going to use the rest of our payload of torpedoes to cripple that ship as well. Try to hit the engine as best as you can without the targeting computer."
With that, the attack commenced, each fighter flying in unison, divebombing the Heavy Cruiser. As expected from the ship, a volley of turbo-laser fire was firing from the top and to the back, as the fighters flew toward its engines. The turbo-laser fire began to ramp up in ferocity, with some fighters unfortunately meeting their ends due to some lucky shots, but the fighters were getting close to the engines. At that pivotal moment, all X-Wings and Z-95s slowed down their descent and began to unload a volley of torpedoes against the engines of the cruiser, pulling up or flying against the side of the engine to get away from being burned to a crisp.
