A guttural howl echoed through the compound which housed the spaceport of Korriban. Remus didn't hesitate, he drew his rifle from its slung position and dozens of soldiers around him did the same, the handful of B1 and B2 battle droids joined them. As he did, a scream echoed from the left side of the formation, a Sith Trooper was slashed on the neck, a soft area on the neck was left shattered open and the wound bloomed with an eerie red ichor. "Contact!" Another yelled out over the commlink and his vitals quickly went null according to Remus' HUD. "Contact, contact." Remus shouted as a figure emerged from the dust that randomly kicked up, or so he thought. Remus leveled his rifle and pulled the trigger three times, each shot hitting close to center mass. As the unknown enemy dropped, another appeared and Remus was forced to step back, his legs kept close as if he was walking with a band around his legs, he leveled another three shots and now to his left, another unknown figure. Remus became focused, tunnel vision taking over and he didn't realize now that the whole group of Sith had been engaged in a firefight and some hand-to-hand combat.

Remus continued to step back until he backed into another Sith officer, that Sith officer had drawn a vibroblade and almost dug it into Remus' neck but the officer quickly realized who he was facing. "Apologies Warmaster." Remus chuckled and quickly wheeled around the officer, dropping another three shots into an approaching figure. "What in the Galaxy's name are they?" Remus would soon find out. Another figure, this one cloaked and robed leapt from a rock formation and took Remus by surprise, forcing him to the ground. Remus saw that they were human but were armed with crude weapons, no armor and had serious tattoos, scars and the like. Remus gripped his blaster from his right thigh and placed the blaster to the head of the attacker, a single shot rung out and the attacker went limp landing on Remus. Remus pushed him off and returned to his feet, his rifle slung across his chest still. Remus quickly acquired another target, and then another before he was met with something he hadn't been before.

An arc of lighting broke through the dust and a Sith trooper and a B1 began to convulse due to the lighting, the droid suffering far worse than the Sith trooper. Remus brought the rifle up and began firing shots at the unknown warrior.

The troopers were informed to burn the dead beasts in a pyre dedicated to the valley spirits, perhaps this would hold whatever possessed the valley at bay, the troopers did not know as they were merely soldiers. As they had dealt with the warbeasts albeit on the smaller side of the size these things could grow to, Lt. Commander Price sent off a fire team to scout the valley ahead of them as the platoon had just entered into the mouth of the valley. The rest of the naval soldiers armed a new batt pack and hunkered down for now. Lt. Commander Price returned from his position to the side of the Admiral, speaking to him as his commlink warbled with code-scrambled words spoken through the com. "Lord Admiral, the scouting team has reported a pack of four mutated Rancor ahead of us. While we may be able to handle mutated gundarks and these lesser beasts, a Rancor would most certainly be the end of quite a few of us. What do you have planned, admiral?"

"Here's how this will play out. I want all snipers up on the far right-side ridge and ready to support the main force of the platoon. Heavy Weapons Team will be at the front with me, with all other troopers behind. I willl inflict fear upon the creatures, bringing them to the ground. I may be able to get three or get lucky and all four. In the case where one resists, I will need covering fire from snipers. The five with heavy weapons will inflict a major blow before the remaining troopers finish the job with your vibroswords." spoke Marcus Aurelius, having already set upon testing the worthiness of his soldiers so that they should come out of the fires of this mission reforged into something greater. There would certainly be those who perish, just as there would be those whose minds are broken. But as the saying went, to make an omelette you had to break a few eggs. Admiral Aurelius lead the march into the valley proper, noticing Sith iconography on structures nearby but couldn't make much out of it. The pack of savage mutated Rancors came into sight and Marcus raised one hand, inflicting Force Horror on the pack. The largest of them - the Alpha - would charge forward however and accepted blaster fire from snipers onto it's scarred skin before one rocket smashed into it dead-on whilst the second missed. Rockets slammed into the others of the pack and sent them down onto their bellies as Marcus held the Terror's effect. Immediately as the operators reloaded, troopers with vibro-swords moved in on the four of them.

Immediately, the Alpha burst out of the containment and consumed two of the troopers while clawing through another. As the giant rancor burst forwards, Marcus brought his lightsaber forwards. Even with covering fire from the snipers, the Rancor charged onwards towards the Sith Acolyte. A smile gripped the countenance of Marcus as his rage and hatred empowered his physical strength and durability through the use of Dun Moch. While his soldiers were finishing off the other three Rancors - albeit with a minor amount of losses or wounded - the Acolyte then ended his concentration on the Force Horror and through Telekinesis, threw himself towards the alpha and grasped his saber with his other hand, before whipping it about into a slash that ended the Alpha's life. And then, as he landed, he began to breathe in slightly more laboriously.

Remus continued to approach firing several shots as the arc of lighting ceased to be visible and as Remus approached, as did other Sith soldiers and their droid companions, a guttural howl pushed the dust storm away. A clearly mutated and mutilated human stood, draped in cloaks of fur and skin, a bone-sword in his left hand and a right-hand balled in a fist. Remus levied shot after shot towards the enemy, each one dogged with wicked speed, blurring each time it moved. It approached Remus as others warriors began to appear and terrified screams rung out over the commlink. "Fear not!" Remus slinging his rifle over his chest and went for a vibroknife attached to his utility belt, as he did so the bone-sword warrior struck down with both hands and Remus was able to meet the warriors overhanded blow and it cracked the bracer armor of Remus' armor. Remus buckled in pain, falling to one knee. The tribal warrior spoke in a language of tongues that Remus could not understand but was captured on his commlink for future research.

Remus was by no means a small man and had taken to combat training, especially with the Kaleesh warriors that had accompanied him and the Blackscale Slavers. Remus was the Warmaster after all, he should be proficient in all forms of warfare. As Remus felt the skin on his arm begin to slowly tear from the bone he pushed forward, wrapping both arms around the waist of the tribal warrior and pushing forward driving the warrior in the air briefly and bringing him down on his back. As Remus reached for the vibroknife, he realized that it had fallen from its sheath, Remus went to drive a fist into the face of the tribal warrior but before he could do that Tarkhan Xydaenaar Sonnan, the leader of the Kaleesh bodyguard that began accompanying him, drove his Shoni spear which had been decorated and further expanded into the face of the tribal warrior who convulsed. Remus turned, the Tarkhan offering a hand to Remus and Remus nodded.

The Kaleesh who had followed him were quickly making work of the tribal warriors around them. Remus had come to his feet and immediately prompted a call for further reinforcements. The front of the spaceport was visible now that the dust had cleared and his soldiers were engaged with various tribal warriors, the Tarkhan spoke in Kaleesh and his warriors formed a cadre around Remus and the Tarkhan handed Remus a fallen warriors Lig sword and Remus nodded.

The clash with the cultist or whatever they were was violent and cruel. The Sith soldiers were forced into close combat and the B2 Super Battle Droids that had accompanied them were engaged as well, the B1's were being ruthlessly "murdered" due to their general lack of close combat abilities. The presence of the Kaleesh warriors made Remus slightly more at ease, he had seen them fight and he had seen them win in close combat and they were skilled in it. Remus was now equipped with a Lig sword from the Kaleesh Tarkhan and utilized it with brutal efficiency, while the cultist or acolytes, whatever they were, moved with unnatural speed, Remus leaned into his training and his combat abilities and attacked them as he could. Remus wasn't going to make it out of this without some damage however, his arm still reeled from the damage caused to it by the other cultist and he was feeling the physical exhaustion setting in from movement to movement.

Remus received a blow to the stomach, spiked knuckles dragged across the armor of abdomen and Remus slammed the Lig sword down into the cultists neck. The human if it could be called that, shuttered and fell to the ground. The commlink network was alive with call outs, vital signs were flashing or dimming on his HUD and but Remus' HUD displayed that the battle for the starport was leaning in their favor. Remus' officers in orbit were dispatching flight after flight of fighters, and more importantly reinforcements in the form of B1 and B2 Super Battle Droids. Remus also had the luxury of the Kaleesh fighters deploying and being capable enough to engage with the cultist that had made the starport their home.

Remus' hails for assistance were finally answered by Colonel Nerzatsk and Remus gritted his teeth when he heard the Colonel come over the internal commlink. The Tarkhan assisted Remus to his feet after throwing the dead cultist to the ground which had just attacked him. "Tarkhan on my orders, eliminate the Colonel when we secure the starport." The masked Kaleesh warrior nodded, not having to require any other directives. The Warmaster was not sure if the Colonel had been out of communications range or had purposefully ignored the Warmasters' directives but either way they wouldn't be a problem in the future. The deployment of the pacification brigade to the starport was a welcomed relief, they swiftly gunned down the cultist and began to spread throughout the facility to secure its various areas.

Lord who?! Crassus?!.....Uh...Never heard of em'...
" Lord Sebastian, have you ever heard the tale of the Sith known as Crassus? "
Aggravated at the thought that Ludo would ask him such a question that held such an obvious answer he'd nonetheless do his best not to snap at the Sith Spirit whom while couldn't breathe, Sebastian swore he heard the glee in the deceased Sith's chest even before a light sneer became audible. Shifting into words this sneer regardless would set the tone further;
" I was afraid you had not my dear boy....For his story is one so full of avarice that Lord Crassus' story lay deep within his own tomb, never to escape....Least a loose tongue let the memory slip elsewhere...here or there....You see Lord Crassus was nothing special, at no point in his life did he achieve anything of self-worth....The only thing Lord Crassus was known for was one act that changed his life forever. For with Crassus being moderately to lesser strength he was considered weak and thus had to crawl and beg, hoping to make it another day. And of course he did, until one day he had gotten the idea to inspire another Sith peer of his to design and build a device that would not only bolster the wearer's strength, but their Force power as well....Both things that Crassus was lacking in, notably so even.

Once called upon and told of the other Sith's achievement Crassus would further lure them into false securities, feeding them lies of a golden future for the inventor while pouring a new goblet of wine for them as swiftly as Crassus dared to. Then when he was only absolutely certain that his next act would not fail, so would Crassus slay this drunken and dozing off peer of his before stealing the prize, a Sith gauntlet that he'd even dare to go on and name after himself! Haha, can you believe it?! Fame and power from deceit and thievery! Actually though.....it was and still is insanely brilliant, haha! Not only did Crassus manage to bolster his weaknesses with improved vigor, but he also did so by capitalizing on the strengths that he did have prior to.
Now, his only mistake was allowing himself to fade into obscurity, never doing anything of worth after this and thus his name and legend were lost to time.....Will that be what happens to you Lord Validus?!
Tell me then....why did I speak to you of Lord Crassus' story?! "

Remus had secured the majority of the starport, the Pacification Brigade had deployed en masse and a company-sized detachment had been assigned to guard duties of the starport. Remus and a team of engineers and officers poured over data that had been secured from archives and other data terminals within the starport: arrival and departure logs, ship manifests, etc. Remus tapped keys and read logs, flight logs and came to realize that a vast majority of this data showed Pesegam, also known as Moraband or more importantly Korriban to be a vital launching point to the rest of Sith Space. Remus looked around the room, a majority of the work was being done by droids the others were a loyal cadre of officers who had served with Remus since the earliest days of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Remus motioned for a protocol droid to come and motioned again for two Sith soldiers; they listened. "This is to go to the Dark Lord personally." The protocol droid, a black body with glowing red eyes gave an affirmative and the Sith soldiers turned on their heels. Remus nodded at the Blackarm, the leader of the Kaman assigned to protect the starport from Remus' Kaleesh component.

As the protocol droid and the Sith exited, several seconds later the team of Kaleesh exited after them. The Tarkhan broke Remus' attention as he dragged in Colonel Nerzatsk, bloodied and clearly upset. "Ah Colonel." Remus spoke aloud, his staff briefly turning to him and then turning back to their work. The Colonel uttered curses in Iridonian and some in basic and Remus walked over to his shackled, kneeling body. "Colonel, it appears that you were indeed ignoring communications from me." Remus had run a communications check when they secured the starport, a component of the ad hoc intelligence services that had formed in the wake of Sith Confederacy. Remus had "formally" organized the non-Sith intelligence apparatus into the "Intelligence Operations Group" formed underneath the veteran leadership of Rear Admiral Thesh Mossum, a male Korunnai who had served with Remus for quite sometime and had been entrusted with the development of a non-Sith intelligence network in addition to the already existing Sith intelligence formations that were run by proper Sith.

The Colonel drolled on as Remus continued back to his work, the Tarkhan and his Kolkpravis warrior stood over him as he writhed on the floor. "Colonel, I think you mistake me for another sort." Remus had indeed ordered his death but had later counter-manded that order to have the Tarkhan bring him alive to him. "I wanted you dead at first, a fleeting moment of human emotion. I realized that the Sith Army that I command will be ordered, will be judicial and will be functioning. We cannot have commanders just ordering the deaths of those that they wish." Remus smirked. As a component of the main academy that had already been swept, or rather parts of it had been swept by other units of the Pacification Brigade and other members of the Sith, they had uncovered dungeons. "You will be the first addition to the new Sith Academy's dungeon system." Remus motioned his hand away as the now ex-Colonel was dragged away screaming.
